I have been working at Whitman Requardt and Associates full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Free parking, great metro area, easy commute, great company atmosphere and great work life balance with flexible hours if needed (approved by supervisor, but shouldn't be a problem), NO micro management and Whitman Requardt has been a long standing successful engineering firm in Baltimore for over 100 years. The coolest partners in the business, very personable but direct.

    Cons

    The vending machines never work!

I have been working at Whitman Requardt and Associates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I work in a satellite office, so there is a lot more flexibility in working hours and the office atmosphere is a lot more relaxed. I have a ton of work to do, and the company is growing quickly. We are constantly hiring more employees and we have outgrown the office we moved into just two years ago.

    Cons

As anywhere, the experience really depends on the manager you work for.

I worked at Whitman Requardt and Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great starting hourly rate for a young professional, great location in Fell's Point

    Cons

Atmosphere was a bit stiff and cold. Organization as a whole is very top-heavy.

    Advice to Management

Be more willing to accept different ideas or approaches. This may help future employees avoid burnout or stagnation.

    Pros

Well-known, established firm with a wealth of resources and knowledge.

    Cons

    Limited opportunities at senior level

Value your long-term senior staff, maintain open mind regarding suggestions for growth.

I have been working at Whitman Requardt and Associates full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great management, good pay, great co workers (many in the early 20s). Good flexible working hours system (can choose 7-4 or 8-5). Company is very very busy, new incoming jobs every month.

    Cons

Lots of downtime in beginning of my job, was not kept as busy as I would have liked.

    Pros

I got to practice a lot of my technical skills and get to know my group pretty closely.

    Cons

Pigeon holed into doing Microstation all summer isn't the best either, but I guess I'm learning new stuff.

    Advice to Management

    N/A

I have been working at Whitman Requardt and Associates full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pretty good PTO, smart people, good place to learn engineering skills

    Cons

If you work for the Building Design Group, there's very little career development and mobility. Good luck getting promoted. Almost no women in middle management and above - says something about how the company feels about ensuring equality in the workplace

    Advice to Management

Need to care about development outside of purely technical skills. Lots of micromanaging (in BDG). Although it's a partnership, it needs to have more consistent culture across the business units.

I have been working at Whitman Requardt and Associates full-time

    Pros

Full benefits, friendly work environment (in most offices, I believe), and steady employment.

    Cons

Few holidays, slow advancement, and not a particularly fun or engaging atmosphere. The job is the job; there's not much else.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees, challenge us professionally, and reward us accordingly.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Whitman Requardt and Associates full-time

    Pros

Benefits are better than most companies I've worked for, particularly paid time off. This is somewhat offset by the Cons I listed below

    Cons

Not much opportunity for advancement...and most folks with significant amount of experience still occupy small cubicles! Communication by management to other staff is disappointing...staff not well informed of the overall health and welfare of the company, except perhaps during the year-end holiday letter. Company seems to rely too heavily on repeat business, not good at proactively seeking other opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Management wants everyone to communicate, so practice what you preach!
