I have been working at Wilbur-Ellis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Positives to Wilbur-Ellis include great insurance options, 401K match, pension plan, and the ability to move between roles.

    Cons

There is frequent change within the company and can be a a good ole boys' club.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps increase focus on employee retention, but overall a great place to be.

I have been working at Wilbur-Ellis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wilbur-Ellis shows a commitment to employees through a generous benefits package, and career planning

    Cons

It's a tough industry because the pace of change is really fast and the ability to stay ahead is challenged. Work-Life balance is tough because of the seasonality of the business.

    Advice to Management

    Emphasize work life balance initiatives

    I worked at Wilbur-Ellis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great business with a lot of room for growth

    Cons

I don't think they moved enough product through the plant

    Advice to Management

A lot of room for improvement overall within that facility. I thought there was to much favoritism to some of the employees.

    I worked at Wilbur-Ellis full-time

    Pros

The benefits are great, I liked my job

    Cons

Branch management needs more experience, management training classes would help

    Advice to Management

Get input from lower level employees about the local management in the branch

    I worked at Wilbur-Ellis full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

We got doctor appointment added to our sick leave and you could take a half a day instead of a full day if you want.

    Cons

There's was allot of pros but when willbur-ellis came in it took about 3 years to have everything taken away other than the good health insurance. Starting with bonuses, then incentives, birthdays. There's a computer system for clocking in, its all setup to take overtime away, once u go 1 minute into overtime a tex msg goes to supervisor.

    Advice to Management

If a worker gets injured and he actually likes a job there's no reason to let him go especially if he was given a raise & told he was doing great before work injury that wasn't he's fault. Supervisor should be trained to follow protocol when worker gets injured. There's allot of safety classes for workers, it be nice if it was mandatory with some confirmation that actually supervisor would be in classes.

    Pros

The benefits were very good, loved the job I had.

    Cons

Politics, politics, politics! If you didn't agree with everything you were an outsider. Women are not really respected as equals in the workplace in treatment or in pay .

    Advice to Management

Please respect the people that work for you and the work they do. Don't judge souly on politics, disagreements, and whether you like the person.

I have been working at Wilbur-Ellis full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small company feel with the resources and stability of a huge company, great coworkers, working for an industry leader has its own advantages, very flexible schedules so long as you are not out in the field, competitive pay, chance to have a part in some exciting and ambitious plans for the future

    Cons

There is a great deal of favoritism and established personalities have immense influence in maintaining the status quo, which is quite broken due to ineffective management and/or processes.

    Advice to Management

Management seems very top-heavy and yet between them their job still does not get done which makes it very difficult for those underneath to do their jobs.

    I worked at Wilbur-Ellis full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free schedule, pay, customer relations, vehicle, ability to control your income/bonus, legacy employees high in knowledge, great technology products and offerings

    Cons

Long, 16 hour days during the growing season, potential 7 day work weeks, adverse weather conditions, liability for crop claims

    Advice to Management

Management is too top heavy. Wilbur pricing is also ridiculously high and the cause for a loss in sales, customer base, and employee edge over competition. Also, probably reason for
    Increased turnover rate.

Mostly autonomous divisions. Long history of success in chosen markets. Rewards conformity.

    Cons

Secretive culture almost to the point of paranoia. Necessitates very controlling management styles/practices. Stifles creativity & independent thinking.
