I worked at Will-Burt (More than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers, interesting projects, insurance is excellent, culture and atmosphere is good

    Cons

No long term direction. Reactionary, knee jerk style of management. Turnover is bad for engineers because of project management issues and a fear for job security.

    Advice to Management

Get a permanent solution to overhead stability. Bid on contracts that make sense for the company. Get an aggressive employee retention program in place.

    Pros

There are none about this company.

    Cons

Worst place in the world to work for.

    Advice to Management

Have some heart and make the right decisions. They just did a second lay off in six months!

    Pros

Good co-workers; was close to where I lived

    Cons

Poor upper management - no vision or leadership; Rash decisions and not embracing change. Small minded and simple

    Advice to Management

Thank goodness Evans is finally out.... he ruined the company

    Pros

Good, dedicated people on the shop floor

    Cons

    Upper management cannot be trusted

    Advice to Management

The board needs to realize that upper management does not know how to manage a manufacturing company, they are a bunch of sales and finance people. They need to bring in people that know manufacturing, and not people that ran their previous company out of business.

    I worked at Will-Burt full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Coworkers are great. Insurance is good.

    Cons

No 401k match, wage freeze and Esop value has dropped 3 straight yrs

    Advice to Management

Stop bringing in management with a history of failure, promote from within. The best management I worked for with this company was promoted from within and it was the best years WillBurt has ever had, coincidence?

President needs to take charge and be a part of this company rather than act as an advisor.

    Pros

Benefits are really good, 401k they dont match anymore, ESOP only need to be there 3 years to be vested. Outstanding Co workers.

    Cons

Gibbs, Upper management, out of touch, do not match your 401k anymore. Too many managers not enough workers. Always laying off people.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of Gibbs and his crew, promote from within, There are plenty of guys who can and have did some of these new managers jobs.

    Pros

Been around a long time. ESOP (Employee-owned). People tend to stay on. Pleasant corporate culture.

    Cons

Like many established companies there is not a real sense of urgency on new projects, they have their core business to keep the lights on and the doors open.

    Advice to Management

Need to raise the expectations for results.
