I worked at William Gallagher Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice and fun coworkers, great location in downtown boston, good first job to get your footing in the city, big enough company to provide good benefits and small of enough to maintain intimate feel

    Cons

Compensation was okay, job did not have much responsibility, hard to advance quickly, you really start to spin your wheels after a while in this role because it's very monotonous

    Advice to Management

For the most part they did a decent job, there was an all hands on deck meeting about once a month which was nice to be a part of. Did not really feel very important as a member of the client service team

    Pros

You have weekends off so that's a plus

    Cons

They Don't like people who challenge the way things have always been. Just agree with what they suggest and play dress up at parties and you'll do fine. If you want to be creative or promote change this is not the place for you!! Since the company was purchased everyone is only out for themselves beware!

    Advice to Management

It's nice to always hear how great your ideas are but shouldn't that tell you that you've surrounded yourself with sheep. If you want to attract young talented people, replace the sheep, those who tell you great your are, those who stand next to you meeting nodding their heads at every word you say, with people who will provide honest feedback. It's no wonder the turnover is skyrocketing again.

    Pros

    -nice co-workers
    -nice location
    -social events

    Cons

-very political with promotions and recognition
-they don't invest in their young talent
-senior management doesn't care for the most part
    -horrible communication from senior management
-very uneven workload put on CSA's
-most of the sales staff couldn't careless about you and what you do every day for their clients
    -high turnover rate

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favoritism and recognize and reward your hardworking staff. I see too many CSA's leave because you waste their time.

    Pros

Good coworkers, interesting work with up and coming industries (green energies and such), decent benefits and attempts by management to create a community within the company

    Cons

computers and related technology is extremely out of date and often not functioning well, low salaries, workload is incredibly heavy, turnover and burnout is high

    Advice to Management

The conservative approach to getting through hard times is understandable - but if you are going to demand the volume of work you are placing on employees, it's vital you give them the tools to allow them to do their jobs.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Boston, MA

    Pros

Friendly people, made some good friends. My own manager was very flexible, others aren't as good though. They try to keep staff happy.

    Cons

Some managers far too rigid. Senior management doesn't communicate effectively. REALLY bad time off (for vacations, maternity leave). Really low paying.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your staff market rate.
Senior management needs to let people do their jobs - leave the experts to do what you have hired them to do and don't micro-manage.
Don't promote people just because they have been there a while, promote for talent (especially for people who will be managing others).
