I have been working at William Grant & Sons full-time

    Pros

Great company with a vision that enables year on year growth. Healthy benefits program and cutting edge thought about perks. Cool and unique broad ranging portfolio of products. THe people really embrace the brands and work hard to promote them..from the ambassadors to the HR team everyone has a love for the brand which makes it a great place. They have a best place to work committee that works to make unique and significant changes. THey empower their workforce and are striving for success 100% of the time

    Cons

Be cutting edge with thoughts around fringe benefits, This will make a great place greater Ask your workforce for ideas around this so that WGS is leading the way….

    Advice to Management

Stop "buzzing" around from office to office….it makes the vibe for the whole office stressed out. With an open concept execs need to be more aware of how what they are doing is perceived by everyone in the office watching them and seeing their faces when they look like they "just ate a mouse" this is not to say this always happens but when it does people notice even if the execs think they are being slick.

    Pros

people, flex hours year round, charitable giving, ability to travel for work, great portfolio of products, benefits

    Cons

No clear roles and responsibility. Opportunity for advancement is a closely guarded secret or non existent. Very Clique-y.

    Advice to Management

Define all roles and responsibilities, do not lie about advancement opportunities

I worked at William Grant & Sons full-time

    Pros

    Very entrepreneurial and little politics.
They're still growing, so they're hiring and expanding the company -- room to grow.
Coworkers genuinely care about you (both professionally and personally) and aren't fake/trying to get ahead.
If you do well and try hard, it will show.
The most amazing collection of spirits you'll find; people are very passionate about where they work.

    Cons

Smallish company, sometimes you don't have all the resources you'd like and need to roll up your sleeves and pitch in. Line between work and personal is blurred and it's unofficially expected to be on call all the time. I've been told the pay/benefits aren't in line with the competition but they've worked on that since.

    Advice to Management

Remember to continue to be the small, entrepreneurial company that allowed so many brands to shine.

    Pros

depending on group, great sense of camaraderie
    great people
    benefits

    Cons

in the years I worked at william grant, there was an obvious shift towards chasing profits at the cost of company culture and morale. the company has become much more hierarchical and while politics are expected in any office, there was definitely way more than the usual amount during the last year I worked at this company.

    Advice to Management

instead of thinking about how the company's performance on paper will benefit your individual interests, how about remembering that it's the people who work for you that really bring in the results.

I have been working at William Grant & Sons full-time

    Pros

The benefits and perks are really a lot of fun at this super-premium, family owned and brand-centric firm. Paid tuition, MBA programs, allowance for product purchase, fun events, global travel. The culture can be really good, but see the cons below.

    Cons

The firm has become super "corporate" in its structure - positions are tiered by grade or level and therefore everything is related to that grade: benefits, product allowance, vacation, etc. It's very marketing based, so the marketing team are the drivers. If you're in marketing, this is the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so parental and get out of this mindset of strict hierarchy. You might find that morale will rise decidely!!

I have been working at William Grant & Sons full-time

    Pros

Flexible, fun, great people, great brands. Beautiful office space. Great location.

    Cons

A lot of the culture has been lost. The Execs have their own agenda and the camaraderie has been lost. As a small to medium size company, opportunities for advancement are slim.

    Pros

Lots of autonomy, good people, family run, great brands

    Cons

Does not pay competitively, does not value its employees, does not communicate well. Used to be a great company, but recent actions have been a let down.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the basics of what made this company great. Show employees that you care. Fix the morale issue.

I worked at William Grant & Sons full-time

    Pros

The people and perks are great. It was a time of extreme growth with the company and as such, many new personalities joined the organization.

    Cons

Work life balance is not good. The company became too corporate and grew too fast, didn't pay attention to what was necessary to make the organization work at the bottom level
