I worked at Williams, Adley & Company-DC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you already like IT audit and have experience with FISMA/FISCAM, then Williams Adley will treat you well if you work hard. Small team environment is very friendly. Can move up quickly if committed to the work.

    Cons

Will hire you out of college and throw you in the fire with no effective training. Expectations are super high and there is not much support. Teamwork doesn't mean collaboration, it just means doing your share of the work. Managers/Senior Associates say they want to help you learn but also tell you not to waste their time.

    Advice to Management

Invest in development of an effective training program and put special focus on team dynamics, with special recognition that new associates will need support as they learn FISMA/FISCAM for the first time. End the "suck it up" and "that's the way it is" culture around new team members.

    Pros

    - Great people - A lot of projects give you the opportunity to travel to exciting places both within the U.S. and international. - Small firm; therefore you are more visible to upper management - Great benefits (teleworking, flexible schedule, etc.)

    Cons

    - Not great when it comes to providing training and helping you grow professionally

    Advice to Management

Really focus on helping the current staff feel like they are valuable and revamp the training programs to ensure the staff can grow professionally.

I have been working at Williams, Adley & Company-DC full-time

    Pros

Decent up and coming CPA firm with mediocre management and 2 partners. Depending upon your assigned jobs, you will either be challenged to excel or have a manager/partner with their own challenges and limitations as a small firm. Good work life balance, hardly more than 40 hours per week, which is rare for accounting firm. Firm has decent benefits for a small company, but not like other CPA firms. Staff is nice and easy...

    Cons

Growth potential up to senior level is great, but getting a CPA and moving on is an obstacle for most staff. Aso Google on outstanding litigation on Williams Adley and SLED project. Project bonuses are minimal, but easy to get, thus that's why they are tiny.
