I worked at Williams Gas Pipeline

    Pros

Great communication Concerned about fairness Great place to grow Fantastic benefits Flexible hours Free parking Diverse workforce Good employee bonuses and rewards

    Cons

Some employees tried to keep knowledge from others so that they would remain "needed." Management attempted to put a stop to this.

    Advice to Management

I love that management sincerely cares about their employees. They encourage their employees to grow and if their lives are difficult at home, management helps.

I worked at Williams Gas Pipeline full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Salary & Benefits $100,000 to $200,000

    Cons

    Not at home very often

    Advice to Management

Failure to use experience employees for gas control on construction projects. Used employees with little to no training in job titles. Fail to use years of experience on hand.

I worked at Williams Gas Pipeline for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people who do the actual work are great, until upper management changes what works.

    Cons

Management seems confused, as conflicting directives come from "on-high". The company is increasingly "Tulsa-centric" and that hurts regional productivity. A year of turmoil, from the ETE taker that wasn't... Mass layoffs... On-going senior management struggles, in the news... Very much NOT a comfortable place to work, no matter one's position.

    Advice to Management

Clean out the top echelon; show a united and solid front!

I worked at Williams Gas Pipeline full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Very friendly, supportive environment that is a good place to learn and grow your career.

    Cons

The HR seems to be behind the times. No encouragement for furthering your education and lags in compensation relative to the market rate.

    Advice to Management

Allow more minorities to move up.

I have been working at Williams Gas Pipeline full-time

    Pros

3 weeks vacation starting, good health benefits, 401K match.

    Cons

No additional pay for being on call unless called out. Schedules projects around Holidays. No quality training just OTJ and the "this is just to say that you have been trained" type training.

    Advice to Management

There is a lack of substantial, quality of training. In-house training only goes so far. Show the employees that work for you that you actually appreciate the work they do for you.

I worked at Williams Gas Pipeline full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Flexible work environment. No accountability so poor performers can succeed. Great company for cogs in the machine. Good benefits. More red tape than government agencies so work never has to get done.

    Cons

IT run company so the business side suffers. Does not promote innovation or drive for results. Business decision makers have no idea what they are doing. Lots of silos within the organization.

    Advice to Management

Get new management. Seek feedback from employees on how to improve processes. Hold management and individual contributors accountable for results and investigate the bottlenecks in the company that are stopping Williams from being the great company it once was.

I worked at Williams Gas Pipeline

    Pros

Benefits, Flexible work hours, safe environment.

    Cons

Recent organization realignment and mergers tried to make everything the same. Some entities are different and were working successfully. Changes recommended were not always the best solution.

    Advice to Management

Involve employees more in decision making processes.

I have been working at Williams Gas Pipeline

    Pros

Very much a good ole boy environment. If you're an engineer with a buddy (good ole boy) attitude, you're in. If you work as supposed to but not a good ole buddy, you're out. Don't even consider raising an ethical issue. You'll be banned for life from the good ole boy group. There are Pros but this is certainly a con. Salaries are also below average in the industry. Look for a position at Shell, Chevron etc. first.

    Cons

Very slow moving and decisions are made based upon the good ole boy (in or out) basis.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up.

I have been working at Williams Gas Pipeline full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The only pro is the location of the office building being the heart of the galleria

    Cons

-the management is incompetent - pay is 15 - 25% below industry average competitors and the accountants know this - no one actually works for Williams everyone is a contractor so they can pay different wages to people with the same job and title - if you bring up pay or benefits expect termination, because often times two employees with the same job have up to $10,000 difference in wages - its like "Initech"...

    Advice to Management

-when selecting a manager they need to pick the person with the most knowledge in the department. -not the person whos father works at williams, -or the person who has been with the company ten years but never promoted (there is a reason that person hasn't been promoted, because they are incompetent) -or the person that does it for the least amount of money from an outside contractor
