Your experience can be good or bad depending on your immediate management.

    Pros

Great discount and reasonable hours. Decent work environment if your store management is capable and actually does their job.

    Cons

Absolute corporate disorganization. Management gets minimal training. Corporate requires associates to do jobs outside of their job description so they can save money.

You Lost Sight of what Mattered

    Pros

Such a great company when I started 8 years ago, when Howard Lester and Chuck Williams ran the show. Howard believed in his people, trusted and empowered them to run stores as if they were their own businesses. Staff was motivated, satisfied, proud, and well-compensated. There wasn't ant better customer service to be found, internal or external.

    Cons

Fast forward a few years to Howard passing away, his "rules" being forgotten, and the stockholders becoming more important than the staff or customers. Tasking took over taking care of our guests, getting e-mails, credit cards, hitting your SPH, filling your client book, etc. How about you just let us take care of our guests?!?

    High Turnover in Management

    Aug 16, 2019 - Assistant Store Manager
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

-Good company with strong product line; can feel comfortable with quality of merchandise. -Reasonable benefits, good 401k matching. -Discount for merchandise (40% off, 20% off electrics)

    Cons

-Revolving door of general managers/very high turnover. -Too many conference calls, micro-management from district manager. -Limited opportunities for advancement. -Poor work/life balance; expectation to always be available/on-call (email, texts, etc) -Compensation for CEO is obscene.
