    Pros

    They have a very impressive training program for store associates, and the management (at my store - Norfolk VA), is EXCELLENT.

    All stores in the Williams Sonoma family (Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, etc), sell quality products. Store associates are well trained and work hard to make the customer experience truly memorable.

    Cons

    Its retail... what can I say?

    Advice to Management

    Promote the manager of my store to District Manager. She exemplifies what a PB store manager should be.

    the culture, the people, the product and the actual people first attitude the company has.

    Cons

    All of the above can make it difficult for upward mobility. Everyone is happy there and don't leave their jobs. I was in management and when I left a few years ago the people in the natural progression of positions for myself are still in those positions. This is due to everyone doing their job, loving their job and company and no one leaves leaving behind an opening.

    Advice to Management

    Dont over saturate the market with stores, keep doing what you are doing, make sure Chuck is as visible as possible, he is a rock star.

    Pros

    We are a can do company, with a positive attitude towards customers and employees. Great career opportunities within some of the divisions of WS Inc.

    Cons

    Need to be creative in the product and marketing that we are selling. We need some fresh PR across all divisions, not only West Elm and Williams Sonoma Home.

    Advice to Management

    We need to continually invest in the training of associates and management. We need to have the best product all the time.

    Pros

    The best reasons to work for WS is the discount and friends made at work. I loved all the great people I worked with. The discount was great, I have a house full of stuff from all the brands. My whole kitchen is from WS. Now I am so spoiled I will accept nothing less than top quality household goods. Upper management did listen to us when we were having issues with customers. We did have a people first attitude. My customers were treated very well, I always went above and beyond to make them happy..

    Cons

    Even with a college degree could not move up as far as i wanted

    Advice to Management

    Treat everyone like humans....understand that working with some customers can be very stressful

    Williams Sonoma Home has amazing leadership. Information is freely shared with the expectation that store leadership will continue sharing down to store level. Store management is allowed to make decisions to promote fair business practices and customer satisfaction. Career planning is reviewed twice annualy.

    Cons

    Executive leadership not able to visit remote locations regularly.

    Advice to Management

    Continue allowing associates to resolve issues at store level.

    Pros

    Leadership is aligned more than ever and Laura is inspiring to work for. Her management is about results and she is investing in the corporate environment. She encourages work/life balance and rewards hard work.

    Cons

    There is still some dead weight that needs to be flushed out but I am sure Laura and the executive team will make it happen.

    Advice to Management

    Dont be too day to day in the tracking of results and stay the course.
