    Into the deep end

    Jan 16, 2022 - Sales Associate
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The pay was slightly higher than typical no-experience retail.

    Cons

The training was woefully insufficient. Go out on the floor and sell, and when you don't know something find one of your co-workers and ask them. Store organization was poor, with product spread all over the place. Difficult to find things. Many items were not priced, or were priced incorrectly. Stockroom was not arranged for ease of use.

    Typical retail

    Jan 10, 2022 - Sales Associate
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    Nice discount on home goods

    Cons

Typical retail. Can be very petty. Although you are not commission, you are judged by your sales. Always a couple people at store that lie, cheat, and steal to get a sale.

If only it paid more & lasted longer

Jan 7, 2022 - Seasonal Cashier/Sales Associate in Los Angeles, CA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Being a seasonal cashier at West Elm is a good way to break into the fashion design industry. Store management is attentive, understanding, and friendly. The job itself doesn’t interfere with your personal life and the store hours are extremely manageable.

    Cons

No benefits, non-competitive wages, outdated systems & processes that drive waste for the environment, consumer, employees, and company . If the company improved their compensation and benefits model, this would have been a great place to start a career -not just a seasonal fling.

    Okay place for seasonal work

Dec 27, 2021 - Sales Associate in Roseville, MN
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Pays okay. Customers were nice but I did work during christmas.

    Cons

They keep track for your sales which causes employees to stress over credit for every sale. And they get scolded if they dont "sell enough". They dont offer extra hours. Very stressfull around holiday time.
