I have been working at Williams full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company and seems to be tight knit group in a good way. Smart and committed employees who give back to their communities with passion. Employees from recent acquisition seem very strong and bring different thought processes. Good compensation for the communities in which we operate. There are a lot of opportunities to work in different capacities throughout the company.

    Cons

There is no diversity at senior level - NONE. Another con is that there are MANY senior managers with no experience over their subject matter. (Can we say Government structure?) That reduces respect for leaders. Lastly, there is too much myopic thinking because many have never worked for anyone other than Williams. There needs to be a healthy balance.

    Advice to Management

We need to blend teams better to get alternative perspectives. We need capable diversity at the senior level to encourage this. We have a problem when everyone on the board, the executive team, and all the general managers sitting around the table look like me, but those in the Town Halls do not. We must practice the diversity we claim to value - in gender, in ethnicity, and in experience.

I have been working at Williams full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Williams is a great company to work for. They are on of the few large corporations who actually do care for their employees. From their 401 plan to their pension plan, they develop ways to obtain and retain good employees.

    Cons

Sometimes upper management can seem out of touch with what is actually going on in the trenches. There is a lot of red tape when trying to establish a common practices. Also, being a oil and gas company, they are subject to the volatility of the market.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people doing the work. You're never too far up the food chain to learn something from those actually doing the work.
