I worked at Williams & Connolly full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Exposure to high stakes litigation
Get to work with some truly great minds
Lots of responsibility early in your career
Great benefits including Profit Sharing at all levels

    Cons

In a firm full of top litigators with the top backgrounds you will need to be able to deal with Type A personalities. If you can't this isn't the place for you.

I worked at Williams & Connolly full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hard not to learn something when you are surrounded by smart, driven people.

    Cons

Work for paralegals is often dull but important. Long hours at times, but that's to be expected at a firm like this. Not especially helpful for career development, legal or otherwise, but you will be well paid while getting an inside look at some interesting cases.

    Pros

Very pleased with the health benefits that are offered to staff members. 3 months paid maternity leave, 10 paid holidays, 75 hours of PTO given at the beginning of every year IN ADDITION to your accumulated vacation hours that can be rolled over each year. $300 allowance per family member per year for Vision. I am very pleased with the health benefits offered to my family. Too many perks to list and very affordable too.

    Cons

Like most organizations, nothing is perfect. I have nothing bad to say about this firm. It would be nice if the Firm offered flex hours but I understand why they don't. Our lawyers work hard day and night so unless a "coverage system" is implemented, staff members have to be available when the lawyers are hard at work.

I worked at Williams & Connolly full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very committed lawyers. Everyone there is extremely smart and dedicated. There's a great deal of teamwork among the attorneys.

    Cons

Demanding pace. It's probably the hardest working of all of the Washington, DC firms. It's much tougher than CA, not as bad as NYC.

    Advice to Management

Do more to formalize training and mentorship. Give younger associates more time to litigate in court.

Everyone is generally nice and the work is incredibly interesting.

    Cons

There are a few apples tarnishing the bunch. If you're able to avoid them it's a wonderful place.
