I have been working at Williamson County Schools full-time

    Pros

Dedicated employees from the top down. Solid community support. Most schools have a solid team feel and work together as a team.

    Cons

The push for high scores sometimes means teaching to the test. Parents will complain straight to Central Office sometimes and bypass the teacher/building admin.

I have been working at Williamson County Schools full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Smartest, most well-behaved kids you'll ever find in public schools.
With a few exceptions, great principals and assistant principals.

    Cons

Very affluent area, which leads to some absentee parenting and helicopter parenting, but at least they care about their kids, for the most part.
Lots of pressure for top test scores, and the students put pressure on themselves, too.

I worked at Williamson County Schools full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large county with several schools to choose from.
If you get into the right school with the right administration you'll never want to leave.
Days off according to student calendar year.

    Cons

Openings are usually at schools with high turnover due to administration.
Low salary compared to other counties and states.
    Competition is high for positions.

    Advice to Management

Wonderful county to work for except for Managements (county) obsessive desire for high test numbers (results) to the detriment of students actually learning to think and solve problems. Creativity and thinking are only valued after high test scores.

I have been working at Williamson County Schools full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Upper middle class families who really care about their children. Great kids.

    Cons

The pay in this county is ridiculously low. The pressure in this county is intense. This county is known for underpaid, overworked, micromanaged teachers.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your teachers. Pay them enough that they can at least afford to rent an apartment in your community.
