I worked at Willkie Farr full-time

    Pros

    Good benefits, and good location.

    Cons

Very much one of those firms that makes a big production of being familial while actually being unbelievably cutthroat and hostile. Management will make a production of extremely little things, offer no support, ignore glaring discrepancies, and there is a culture of throwing people under the bus. There has been unbelievably little effort in improving firm process for efficiency. Many of the people in this firm could be making something great, but the way this firm is run from the partners to the secretarial staff is so mismanaged and disgraceful.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people. They are what's bringing in success, not you. It is a disgrace that you are all so concerned with your own egos that you ignore the firm's potential.

    Pros

Great Clients and a variety of work

    Cons

    Not diverse; Limits for Women/POC

    Advice to Management

Encourage natural mentorship and be mindful of partners that are uncomfortable working with and who doubt the abilities of attorneys of color.

I worked at Willkie Farr full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP has excellent employee benefits. The firm has outstanding structure, whenever a new program was going to be rolled out we were given classes and educated about the new program and how it was going to work. The help desk was always very helpful, the attorneys were friendly for the most part. I really enjoyed my time working at WFG, we were always made to feel valued as an employee. The management was always very approachable and personable.

    Cons

I didn't really feel like there were many cons to working at WFG. I greatly respected their vision and felt like I contributed to a great firm when I worked there.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Willkie Farr (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good people, reasonable workload, good location. Good to be a satellite office of larger firm so you don't get involved in politics

    Cons

Extremely difficult to be made partner from within unless someone else retires/leaves. Lack of closeness to NY office can make it harder to get resources

    Advice to Management

Be clearer about what other options there are other than partner (e.g, special counsel) and what those opportunities might pay and how long it would take to reach those tiers.
