I worked at Wilshire Associates full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There is an opportunity to work with many intelligent people.

    Cons

Where do I start? First of all the benefits aren't great. No 401K match, no help with CFA or grad school costs, low raises and bonuses, etc. Upper management either doesn't care or is completely unaware of the fact that most employees in the firm are grossly underpaid. Unless you are a managing director or above, you're probably making significantly less than you're actually worth. Also, the reward for hard work is...more work. Bonuses and compensation are relatively the same for across the board, regardless of work ethic and contribution to the company. There is a lot of turnover. Much more than the industry average. Upper management will continue to beat the "there is a lot of opportunity here" drum, but realistically, there is very little unless somebody at the top decides to leave, which is rare. This is a place to get some decent experience and move on to a better company.

    Advice to Management

Try and take some of the focus away from their own compensation and look at the rest of the company. There is a reason this place has so much turnover.

I worked at Wilshire Associates full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get to work with many talented people for around 3 years (they usually leave or get laid off after 3 years).

    Cons

0% of profits goes into R&D (for those employed at W for 10+ years, that stands for Research and Development). 100% of profits goes into shareholders' pockets.

    Advice to Management

Put clients satisfaction above paying for Dennis J. Tito's eccentric life style. Grow a pair!!!

    Pros

Great location and a lot of great people worked there. Can't beat the beautiful every day weather in Santa Monica!

    Cons

Company ownership remains a big issue and the good employees are not always valued. Cash bonuses can be sizable but only get paid out at the end of the year.

I worked at Wilshire Associates full-time

    Pros

    The view of the ocean

    Cons

The firm is a hollow shell of what it was in the 1980's and 1990's. The CEO is basically running it into the ground to line his own pockets; there is zero reinvestment in the business. Corporate culture is toxic and intensely political. Those who don't toe the party line are eliminated; those that work hard are given more work and those that are lazy are let off the hook. Nepotism reigns.

    Advice to Management

They don't want any. Dennis Tito is riding the company on a glide path into the ground; he's almost 80 and doesn't care if the company doesn't last as he won't be around to milk it any further.

    Pros

Wonderful location and people. A branded name and platform for the career.

    Cons

Average player is a too conservative goal for the company with so much potential to capitalize its brand

    Advice to Management

Load people more responsibilities and give them more

    Pros

Great location, monetary compensation is fine, more or less flexible hours, professional environment.

    Cons

If your job is programmer then you won't learn much here. Technology is old. Promotion and bonus are very arbitrary. Not so friendly environment.

    Advice to Management

You should upgrade technology to attract and retain skilled workers.

    Pros

    - People have heard of it, won't look bad on resume
    - Work is moderately relevant to many other fields you would want to go into. You're handling financial statements, statistical testing, etc. Not the most exciting or revenue-generating activities, but not just mindless busy work.

    Cons

    - High turnover, very little incentive to actually stay. If you have an offer elsewhere with a more interesting prospect, I'd leave. And I think most of the people who work here know that too.
    - Management doesn't really care too much about office culture. I like my co-workers, but nothing really that fosters camaraderie among the workers here.

    Advice to Management

Match 401k, provide parking, and have management care more about making the entry level workers stay
