I have been working at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great and interesting work; leading edge clients; lots of responsibility and opportunity to advance; good technological resources and support.

    Cons

Need to do more lateral hiring to meet demand.

    Cons

Work life balance at a law firm such as this can always be a challenge.

    Pros

Your experience greatly depends on what practice group you work for. The partners in particular affect the work culture and expectations. My practice group was a very supportive and collaborative atmosphere. The attorneys were intelligent, passionate and willing to teach.

    Cons

As with any law firm, the hours are tough. Your schedule is often unpredictable. If you are set on a law firm though, WSGR is a best-case scenario (again though, depends on your practice group). The attorneys in my group were very much supportive in covering for others when someone had an important life event, vacation planned, etc. As with any law firm, work-life balance is an ongoing struggle.

Firm management is not transparent. They have a reputation for being resistant to adapt to the ever-changing market, including when it comes to demands or recommendations from the associates. Partners have less benefits than at competing firms.

I have been working at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of independence to work at your tempo. Stress free environment. Ability to work from home most of the time. Great healthcare benefits and bonuses.

    Cons

Nature of the position is gets mundane and tedious. Pay is above average for the industry, but could be higher for people in the living in the Bay Area. No 401K matching until you work there for 2 years. Because most people work from home, there isn't much "culture" in the office.

I worked at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati full-time

    Pros

Top-notch client base, interesting work and great opportunities for attorneys.

    Cons

Dedicated work and long hours are taken for granted. Personal affirmation and appreciation of each employee's unique talents are far too infrequent. The leadership team has taken the firm too far from the core value that made the firm great -- namely, being a community of dedicated professionals that serves clients better than anyone. That core value has unfortunately been pushed aside in favor of lofty revenue targets alone.
