I worked at Wilton Brands full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great product line, new office location, good work/life balance changes happening

    Cons

Lack of strong company processes, little to no unity between departments, lack of strong direction and decision making from management.

The product development team was restructured this year, and the team was told from the CEO, at the beginning, that our feelings on what positions we would like to have in the new organization would be taken into consideration. Funny thing, when the changes came about, no one was spoken to, and no one got any say. So now there is a team with jobs they don't want, doing work that doesn't interest them, and I think it's safe to say that people will be leaving and more changes will be happening. If you are a true product development manager, this is NOT the organization for you.

    Advice to Management

    Good luck.

I have been working at Wilton Brands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to start a career, a lot of change happening that I am really excited about, broad amount of brands and products to work with. Benefits are ok but have room to improve. A lot of potential for growth. Starting to see benefit from investment in employees and working with a wide range of people

    Cons

culture seems divided still there is a lot of negative energy during all the change that makes people uneasy. Has been a lot of turn over recently in upper management and talent retention isn't a priority. would like to see more talent brought on who will improve skills of everyone, rather than maintain people who aren't actively present at work and just going through the motions.

    Advice to Management

continue to have open communication and provide more support as a management team across the board. Being aware of trouble issues and helping with them rather than ignoring things until it is to late and people leave.

    Pros

The products are interesting and always made me proud.

    Cons

The corporate clique is really strong and quite unpleasant. Upper management has cliques with middle management because they brought the middle managers with them from where they used to work. Everyone in the company is terribly insecure over their job. HR is ridiculous. I have no idea what they do other than keep a blind eye.

    Advice to Management

Get to know employees and not just what some middle manager who is desperately insecure may tell you. While HR may make you "feel" really good with their razzle dazzle - consider what value they actually contribute to the day to day operations.

    Pros

Previously was a great fun place to work. Great employees and enthusiasm for the company.

    Cons

Communication. No loyalty to employees no matter how long their tenure.

    Advice to Management

Start treating everyone fairly. Don't always listen to just one person's opinion. Bring back the fun since that is what the company promotes with their product. Make employees feel appreciated. That doesn't cost a penny.

    Pros

The office hours are great. The health care and other benefits are pretty good. The office has a quiet atmosphere. The people are nice enough.

    Cons

Dead end position, boss doesn't delegate work. The boss gives one assignment, and you have to wait for them to check every step. Takes too long to get approval.
