I have been working at Wind River full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wind River is by far the most professionally run company in the embedded software industry. There are lots of resources available to get the job done. Internal processes make sense. Everyone is pulling in the same direction for success.

    Cons

Some of the newer products are a bit immature but this is to be expected when attempting to push into new technologies. Some of the internal IT systems are unwieldy and outdated, but they still get the job done once you learn how to use them.

    Advice to Management

Need to reconnect with the core of the embedded market. Not all customers are Fortune 500 companies, so small and medium businesses should not be ignored.

    Pros

    Great team work.
Challenging customers and a full range of solutions to offer.
The latest generation of products are much easier to be installed and to be used.

    Cons

In many cases a "me too" products, seldom a new leading technology.
Hard to adapt new business model to local market.

    Advice to Management

The company vales are well clear, especially via frequent WebEx based meetings. Sometimes there are too many of them, often overlapping hours, while trying to take into account the different timezones of the employees participating in the calls.

I have been working at Wind River full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    1) Smart people. 2) #1 in embedded RTOS market 3) Pay has been decent but have not had a raise in several years.

    Cons

    1) Past two years Sales Management has not been as motivating as previous 10 years.
    2) Culture is mixed. Some people are content and focused. Others, feel like the company is not what it used to be to work for.

    Advice to Management

Realize that several good people have resigned in Sales in the past year. If quotas are too high beyond reach to make a decent salary. sales-related people (AM, TAM, AE, SSMs) will continue to look elsewhere.,
