I worked at Windstream full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Windstream is well established. It probably isn't going the way of the Qwest for a while.

    Cons

Management changes (which are necessary) don't seem to be effective.

I have been working at Windstream full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Abundance of PTO (3 weeks vacation, one week optional holiday). 56 hours sick time, but it is used against you if you take a sick day (awarded a point, 8 points is termination). Atmosphere is relaxed in general.

    Cons

PTO difficult to use and is rejected frequently. hours in ERC are horrible. Could not move to A shift even after one year at 11-8 pm. Pay is also below industry standard, internal promotions receive significantly less money than external hires regularly. Definite favoritism department to department. Good workers pick up slack for dead weight.

    Advice to Management

Reward your reliable workers, and promote from within. Discipline the dead weight and take action as needed. Also, don't let home-grown talent walk out the door over money, to direct competitors. Windstream's best talent is working at other companies....4

I have been working at Windstream full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pro for me is that the job is close to my home and at times I am even able to work remotely.

    Cons

The company has been trying to work on employee satisfaction for years, but the constant company turmoil, lay offs and mishandling of acquisitions have made it hard to have faith. There seem to only be advancement opportunities for a few, and others just wait and wonder who will be laid off next. The Wind motto last year was "Do more for less." That pretty well sums it up.

    Advice to Management

Managers should be able to do the job their subordinates do. This does not seem to be a value that I am seeing. Too many times, the managers are looking for the significantly lesser paid employee to provide the answers.
