    Pros

Great people work their but some managers need to retire!

    Cons

IT is very old school and not very flexible.

    Advice to Management

in my experience, you (IT MANAGEMENT) need to offer retirement packages to managers well over retirement age and keep those people who still have years before retirement.

    Pros

My peers; had the opportunity to work with some good people.

    Cons

Windstream needs to invest in training the mid/lower managers; not everyone is suited to be a manager of a professional staff. Lack of team work across departments.

I worked at Windstream full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Immediate supervisor was amazing. Loved the ability to work from home.

    Cons

Zero job stability. Every single year they go through a round of thousands of lay-offs. You constantly feel the ax over your neck. Constantly changing upper management adds to the instability. There is also zero interdepartment communication or cooperation.

    Advice to Management

Network expansion should be focused on upgrading to new technology not make the best with existing.

I worked at Windstream full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team environment, Coaching provided, pay was not bad, no maximum commission earnings. 401k match. Off on Sundays

    Cons

Was let go for not offering EVERY PRODUCT on particular calls pulled. I found out sales just wasn't the job for me. If you're a sales person perhaps this is the job for you. I just didn't feel comfortable offering PREMIUM internet service to an elderly lady in a nursing home who cant even use a cell phone. I was able to get a lot of sales from repeat callers for what the customer was calling about because I wasn't so pushy and they appreciated that. Offering the top package and working down was good on some calls but not every call.

    Advice to Management

A lot of customers go online or have someone call in because they feel the rep is being too pushy. A lot of good advice is giving in coaching. One thing that made me want to accept the job is the idea that it was sales based on an individual needs. Being forced to offer the top package to someone looking for basic internet and the lowest rate sometimes ended with the customer disconnecting before you were able to work your way down to a lower price. If the offer was more individualized instead of making sure we meet Highest package every product offer and overcome every objective, more customers would call in. Windstream is not in my area, but AT&T is. I appreciate that about their reps. I don't use a TV provider (which was one reason selling dish was a challenge) but they offer me direct TV. When I say no thank you they may say one other thing but I don't feel pressured. A new sales approach is needed.
