I have been working at Wingspan Portfolio full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    They paid a decent salary.

    Cons

They would lay people off so they could rehire as temps. You never know when your contract will end and you will be the next layoff. No opportunity for any type of advancement.

I have been working at Wingspan Portfolio full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There's not a lot of turn over, there's no mandatory overtime or working weekends. Great location, plenty of parking.

    Cons

CEO was fired, 97% minimum quality scores. There are 3 levels of back checking done on each file, which the underwriter must pass. 1 income or quality fail requires you to double your monthly minimum loans to get back to 97% 2 income or quality fails in the same month is impossible to recover from as you must now triple your normal monthly loans completed at 97% Miss your numbers for 3 consecutive months and your out the door. Pressure pressure pressure.

    Advice to Management

90% is an -A, 95% is an A. 97% as a minimum acceptable quality and MIQR score has caused you to lose and fired a lot of quality underwriters. 95% should be the number.

I have been working at Wingspan Portfolio full-time

    Pros

When the company was in growth mode, it was a fantastic place to work....

    Cons

But senior management was easily distracted by highly paid "consultants" and "business development executives" who failed to bring a single client to the table. These supposed well connected executives -- and there were a lot of them -- sucked money and resources from Wingspan like leeches.

    Advice to Management

It's too late now, but never hire a salesperson without a contract that holds them accountable for revenue....

    Pros

    - Company maintains a relaxed work environment

    Cons

    - Poor management style
    - Poor mentorship or training
    - Benefits are ok, but could be better
    - Poor financial decisions made by the higher-ups
    - Human resources and benefits departments are not the best at communicating or responding to issues

    Advice to Management

Try to keep employees who are professional, invested, experienced and care about not only their jobs, but also your clients and others within the company.

I have been working at Wingspan Portfolio full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They kept our salary the same after buying us from Chase Bank.

    Cons

Kept promising opportunity and growth which never happened, were not allowed to apply for other positions within the company due to having to keep the number of positions the same per their contract with Chase Bank (in other words just a number not actually a person who matters)

    Advice to Management

Be more mindful of what contracts you enter into with other companies and think about your employees not just getting your name in the media for hiring a bunch of people that you will just let go of in a year.

I have been working at Wingspan Portfolio as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

When Chase sold us to Wingspan, those of us who managed to hold on to our jobs got to keep our salaries and stay in the same building.

    Cons

No company values, extremely poor management, hostile work environment and to cut back on salary, they just cut jobs. CEO is Jason Spooner now because Steve Horne was ousted do to poor decision making and misappropriate of funds.

    Advice to Management

Look for a company that has a solid foundation. Wingspan is a glorified temp agency whose lifeline depends on Chase Bank. Once Chase figures out how to legally outsource all of it's small projects to other countries for a cheaper price, there will no longer be a need for us. Work at your own risk, use it for what you can, and move on to more stable ground.
