    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at Winston-Salem Journal

    Pros

Staff is friendly. Benefits are good....if you are in management.

    Cons

No pay raises. No room to move up unless you make friends outside of the building. Lots of "cliques" more concerned with cigarette breaks and dishing the latest dirt than meeting deadlines and budgets. Some have been there over 20 yrs and have zero fear of being fired. Company will not blink when it comes to cutting positions thay were valuable a year prior. Company seems to not know what they want to be going forward...

    I worked at Winston-Salem Journal full-time

    Pros

Extremely loyal staff, many have worked there decades. Not a lot of room to advance, must go through corporate.

    Cons

Staff very resistant to change, too much managerial turnover

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees. They will tell you when their work load is too much.
