Pros
Great work life balance. Offers the opportunity to work on a variety of complex transactions. Not a generic large law firm environment.
Cons
Historically there were communication issues between partnership and associates. Over the past year the firm has done a solid job of trying to remedy this situation.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Great people and great work.
Cons
Work life balance can be bad

Benefits, pay and training were very good
Cons
No work life balance. Very over worked. It was hard to ask and get time off when needed.

Cons
There are none at this time.

Great balance compared to other BigLaw firms

The people that are attracted to Winston are pretty cool as compared to other A type lawyers. Compensation and work/life balance are excellent.
Cons
Feedback about how you are doing could be much better. As with all large law firms it can be difficult to plan your life since their are times when you are extremely busy and times when there is barely anything to do, and these times can be unpredictable.

Pros
I enjoy working at Winston and Strawn because of the team I am surrounded by as well as the work/life balance I am provided.
Cons
Some dates is harder than others to be away from the office.

Great Benefits but poor work/life balance
Sep 22, 2016 - Accounting in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you can hack it, it's a great place to learn and gain experience and move up if you're qualified or move on if you're over it. Benefits are top notch (BCBS, MLA, 401k), competitive salary, cafe is eye pleasing and a very diverse staff .
Cons
Long stressful hours, weekend hours during busy season. No work/life balance here. Be prepared to be micromanaged which brings low moral and very high turnover.

Friendly environment Nice office Good quality technology Efficient work place Great work life balance The location is great in terms of transport and lunch options
Cons
Break rooms kind of dumpy Not a lot of major negatives to speak of Rare to see natural sun light from any interior office which requires having to go find it
- Current Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Good work; tough partners
Sep 17, 2019 - Associate in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Interesting work with plenty of early opportunities
Cons
They will work you hard and you shouldn’t expect work life balance as an associate - the best junior associates seem to always burn out after being expected to work around the clock
