I have been working at Wintrust Financial full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, great co-workers, strong financial institution. Great place for new employees.

    Cons

Pay for existing employees is well below market. New employees receive more opportunities and are given more freedom to advance career.

    Advice to Management

Take care of those who have helped the organization get to where it is today.

I have been working at Wintrust Financial full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work/life balance is good. Culture is pretty relaxed. Compensation seems pretty good given the relatively light expectations.

    Cons

Not the most competitive place in the world. Old school management who generally seem pretty overconfident in my experience... though they seem competent overall

    Advice to Management

Quit being so technophobic... it's probably costing you a lot in efficiency

I have been working at Wintrust Financial full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smaller bank with in house decision making. Not a lot of cold calling for sales. Lots of great account options with no fees, accounts sell themselves.

    Cons

Outside events fall on nights and weekends and are unpaid. High expectations for staff members but upper management doesn't participate. Lack of training opportunities. Leadership needs a lot of work.

    Advice to Management

Lead by example and be more hands on

I worked at Wintrust Financial full-time

    Pros

Great people, great as entry level

    Cons

Paid is horrible. Managers pick favorites and don't move others up even though they are qualified.

    Pros

The company culture is friendly and welcoming. There are many people to network with to help build your career. There is plenty of job security.

    Cons

HR can be less than helpful and disorganized; they typically need to be asked to do their job (not all HR employees). The pay could be better and the annual raises for hourly employees are a joke. Computer systems are mostly outdated and the 15-charter, one-bank model makes it difficult to handle all customers efficiently.

    Advice to Management

Invest in employee retention and take employee advice/concerns seriously. Many employees would be willing to take the same job somewhere else for better pay. Work with employees to develop a career plan and a path for growth so no one feels stuck in their position.
