I have been working at Wipro full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A great organization to learn IT Basics. Excellent sources of knowledge to learn from their quality frameworks, Decent opportunities to move within the organization. Plenty of free online training courses

    Cons

Poor Senior Management, No transparency, Decisions are often imposed upon you without a willingness to answer, Salaries can become noncompetitive in a matter of 3-5 years. Performance Management process is a hogwash.

    Advice to Management

Start treating your key employees well. Guarantee visibility to great performing team members. Treat people with respect, but making coaching a way of life for managers.

I worked at Wipro full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of challenges, opportunities, and technology to be immersed in.
Opportunities to move up and move on

    Cons

Poor leadership, strategy, and does not practice common best practices and standards.
Architecture and development is lacking and many technology is dated when compared to most industry tools.
Cloud platform is dated and never has ever improved.
Training is only limited if vendors provide it free. Manager and Re-Orgs happen often (to lay off people with no really good reason).
Because of the high turnover this causes problems with delivery and meetings SLAs.
No clear definition or effort put in to build confidence and trust between off/on shore.
This place is basically a mad house and only if you have been here for a few years can you survive.
Seniority is always the ones remaining while the new folks are constantly being cycled out - so there is a lot of complacency.
Offshore gets the carrot on a stick game just to keep them around - They are treated as commodity.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees because they know more about the technology then most of the managers.
Define a SDLC process... you are a top SP.

I have been working at Wipro full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Wipro upheld a lot of values which was rare in this industry, say 5 years ago. Sadly the values they boast of are just on campus walls and email signatures now.

    Cons

where should I start? I started my career here thinking this is the best company. I saw the company grow enormously to double its staff strength in last 10 years, but sadly they lost all the values they stood for. There is no integrity whatsoever. All they think about is meeting quarterly/annual numbers and just to meet those targets they consider employees as mere numbers. Simply cut down resources and forcing them to resign (I guess they save money for severance package by forcefully make employees to resign). But at the first given opportunity if the employee finds himself a new job and resigns, suddenly the hand twisting starts from the HR team. Either way no one leaves the company happy.

    Advice to Management

Advise to the corporate and Chairman - take some time to regroup and think if this is what you wanted. I always thought we stood out from the general crowd with those values you engraved all across the campuses. You are a giant, we all agree that, but please do value your middle and low level employees a little more. After all all the heavy lifting has been done by us to take you to what you currently are. We don't want a cut, but just respect!
