    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Wisconsin Air National Guard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, health, and retirement plan. Base is relatively small but located in a good area.

    Cons

Working for the government can have its problems, AGR assets tend to abuse the system while the federal employees complete most of the labor for half the pay.

    Advice to Management

Place AGR assets in areas that are needed so federal employees who are not required to be on call per the guidelines but are still "required" to come in on weekends when there is an issue.

    Pros

Great benefits, work experiences, and opportunity to travel. Flexibility with either part-time (traditional) or full time.

    Cons

Work and life balance can be difficult for some to manage. Also the turnover rate is very low therefore politics can play roles in certain decisions.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Wisconsin Air National Guard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Travel to some nice places.

    Cons

If you are not a "Good Old Boy/Girl" your Career is slow and you will not get far.
    Way to many politics.
Senior Management is more concerned with image than competency.
It can be a very disheartening place to work.
If you voice a concern you are labeled as a trouble maker.

    Advice to Management

Look up Henery V, or Undercover Boss you could learn something.

    Pros

Great benefits, 40 days off per year.

    Cons

You have to keep your hair short! Seriously, there aren't many. Maybe getting deployed, but it's always voluntary here and the deployments are typically 4 months or less. Pay is probably a little less compared to the private sector but the bennies and vacation make up for it.

    Advice to Management

    N/A

    Pros

Outstanding leadership and opportunities to excel! Genuine meaningful work that makes a difference in lives of so many people. A chance to do what your neighbors never dream of!

    Cons

Deployments are getting longer as the world continues in unrest. It is more difficult to balance a home life with the increased deployment tempo.

    Advice to Management

Never forget that the people you lead are motivated by the job they do. Continue the respect you have always given your troops.
