I worked at Wisconsin Aviation full-time

    Pros

Exciting industry, some fun coworkers, always learning new things, good comraderie, nice restaurant in the FBO, discount flight lessons

    Cons

Challenging customers, upper management sometimes bickers like a family (some of them are), little direction or renewal, low pay, caustic work environment due to disgruntled workers

I worked at Wisconsin Aviation part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Ok pay. Interesting atmosphere to work in. Get to see some cool stuff.

    Cons

Rude management. No care for employees. The owner is so two-faced and only cares about his own success and image. Everyone I knew there hated working there. They expect you to give 500% every day, work alone when it’s sometimes impossible to, etc.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Respect us. Create a less hostile work environment.

I worked at Wisconsin Aviation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I do not recommend working here

    Cons

Aircraft maintenance is very poor in all departments. Many customers have to return for our maintenance department to re-do the work. That poor quality of maintenance reflects on the flight school’s aircraft too.

    Advice to Management

You’re spending more money having to re-do maintenance than if you did it right the first time. In the future you’ll spend more money having to catch up for the things you’re neglecting now.

I have been working at Wisconsin Aviation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Get to be around planes, colleagues. That’s really about it..

    Cons

Management is absolutely awful. Turnover rate at the bottom is extremely high because of extremely poor leadership at the top. Or lack of leadership I should say. Would give 0/5 stars and would highly NOT recommend. DO NOT waste you time with this company!

    Advice to Management

Grow up, get with the 21st style of running a business, and listen to your employees. Especially the CEO, he will not listen. When you say something he doesn’t want to hear, he will instantly cut you off and walk away.

  6. "Fun job, management needs to change"

    StarStarStarStarStar
      Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Wisconsin Aviation full-time

      Pros

Working with airplanes keeps the job interesting, no two days are the same.

      Cons

The company fails to recognize problems and only cares about the company's bottom line. There are so many ambitious people trying to make change but they get shot down every single time. Eventually the ambition is lost and things stay the same.

      Advice to Management

It isn't 1985 anymore, you need to change.

I have been working at Wisconsin Aviation full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

Management is great with communicating to all levels of employees; If time off is needed, upper mgmt. will fill in for us. Management allows flexibility. The customers are fun and the environment is comfortable. Pay is average and compares to other industries in the area. Benefits are fair and they have a matching 401(k) program.

      Cons

The company being a service oriented company never closes and is always open.

      Advice to Management

Keep communicating, it is very important to employees.

I worked at Wisconsin Aviation full-time

      Pros

Tons of opportunites to fly different aircraft. Freedom. Benefits to fly within the company.

      Cons

Managed by different departments (even the ones that have nothing to do with yours) Constant badgering from CEO. Very old aircraft with no plans to upgrade

      Advice to Management

Let the managers manage their department. Don’t Intervene with the worker, talk to their manager. Upgrade aircraft.

I have been working at Wisconsin Aviation full-time for more than a year

      Pros

-Coworkers are all great! -Job is varied and fun, with enough challenge to keep you interested, but also not too difficult (with proper staffing and equipment). -Great Discount on Flight School Rentals and Instruction -Free Coffee, Cookies, and Leftover Catering from flights that come in -Experience Looks great on a resume if you plan on pursuing a career in this industry

      Cons

-Equipment is godawful, and management is too cheap to fix it, preferring to have our overworked mechanics jury rig ineffective repairs instead. -Staffing is far below ideal levels, and management is sitting on their hands, beyond telling us about how many "high-level discussions" they are having every week -No one in this company who is not a manager or a charter pilot is paid fairly or even to the point where they...

      Advice to Management

-The current line manager is not performing well, but would be great simply managing safety for the department. Create a safety manager position for him, and find a new line manager -Pay your employees fairly, and don't overwork them, and LISTEN to them -Fix and replace the broken equipment that regularly cripples the line department's ability to function
