I worked at Wisconsin Youth Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It had a really nice resource warehouse full of books and kits to do a wide variety of activities with the kids.

    Cons

They had very high expectations. I left because they gave me a review at 1 year and told me things I need to improve. I improved the at 3 months of the school year and they said it wasn't good enough and they demoted me.

    Advice to Management

Loosen up, give people a chance. Make your staff area more welcoming

I have been working at Wisconsin Youth Company part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great staff and programs are run very well. Group leads and site supervisors are very well trained and knowledgeable about thier jobs. Programs managers step in to help if staff is low at a site.

    Cons

They dont give enough hours. No benefits if under 21 hours.

    Advice to Management

Provide hours for people and you will keep staff. Also give benefits to everyone. You cant be selective.

I worked at Wisconsin Youth Company part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They seem to care about the kids they serve. Adequate hours.

    Cons

Poorly staffed, make last minute staff changes, poor overall organization of company. Summer camp was not run well overall by management and this made it a stressful place to work.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that you do not make last minute changes with staff and that you provide substitutes when needed. All of the cons above contributed to poor staff morale which leads to unhappiness by your clients.
