I worked at Wiss & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I started my career at Wiss & Company and the experience was a great launchpad to the rest of my career. I made lifelong friends there and got experience auditing every aspect of companies that made me understand the inner-workings of businesses and management. They had an incredibly generous PTO and benefit package, the environment was collegial and friendly and they cared about more than just work. They cared about our growth and us as people.

    Cons

When I was there I didn't get to work with NYC clients but it seems since I left they have greatly expanded into New York and young auditors can now get access to those big city clients.

I worked at Wiss & Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Unlimited PTO and casual dress code. Are trying to figure out what direction public accounting of the future will be for regional firms and making strides to get ahead of other firms. Low turnover compared to many other firms.

    Cons

Politics, no bonuses, long hours, and cliquish. The pay is based on an algorithm that takes into account all NJ firms and adds NYC. This determines what everyone in the firm gets for a particular position, so if you are a staff living in NYC you will get the same pay as someone living in a cheap area of NJ.

    Advice to Management

Expand NYC more and get rid of the people causing gossip and issues.

    Pros

People are very friendly and are willing to help you at especially at an entry-level
    Unlimited PTO and decent benefits

    Cons

Many people are let go every summer. What they do is hire a good amount of candidates every fall right before the busy season. Then once busy season is over, upper management lets go 4-5 people and blame it on " low turnover" and "overstaffing". No warning what so ever. This place won't last long, they are losing money as it is.

    Pros

Very close-knit company with relatively nice people. Relaxed and casual environment. Great for people who are looking to start families.

    Cons

The culture is very click-ish. In my opinion there is also not much room for growth.

    Pros

I had an unforgettable experience this past summer working as an intern for Wiss. As a rising junior in college, this was my first time working in a professional, corporate environment. Nevertheless, it was beyond enjoyable, and I truly looked forward to coming to work. Every employee was so approachable and friendly, but specifically, my department (HR) went above and beyond to include me as a team member. They not only encouraged me to voice my ideas, but also implemented many of them, and cultivated an environment where innovation can flourish. If more companies treated their employees with the effort and care that Wiss exudes, more employees would be engaged, and subsequently more companies would be successful. I will sincerely miss the Wiss culture, my amazing department, Wiss Olympics and ice cream socials, and will be definitely be a frequent visitor!

    Cons

My commute! (completely a personal problem)

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing!
