I have been working at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Typical 40-50 hours a week. Minimum travel. Masters Degree Program. Yearly Par bonus based on plant performance and job performance. Unique problems involved with operating a nuclear power plant.

    Cons

Emergency response duty. Outages require 72hr/week from 1 to 2 months every 18 months. Heavily regulated industry involves strict procedural compliance etc.

    Advice to Management

Promotion is based off time served. Performance doesn’t matter so a high performer will be in the same relative salary range as a non-performer.

I have been working at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

4 10 Hr. days provide great work life balance. Plenty of opportunity to have impact of the future. Down to earth and extremely supportive Management. The initiatives to rebuild the plant toward excellence really hit home with those who want to be engaged and inspired to make a difference.
Truly values employees as their greatest resource. Adam Heflin is the most inspiring CEO I have ever worked for.

    Cons

Location is remote from large cities. Infrastructure is dated, but improving all of the time.

    Advice to Management

Please keep up the honest, clear and consistent communication. You have a plan and we all know it. You already know how great we can be.

I worked at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The pay was excellent for not having experience of any kind. Got experience in a lot of areas with MS word, MS excel, access, quality control, answering phone, faxes, incoming and outgoing correspondence, timesheets, spreadsheets, reports, graphs, and a lot of misc., responsibilities.

    Cons

I had been there for26 years. Ready to start a new chapter in my life

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees and they will work harder and respect you.

I have been working at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good company to work for. Great Pay and Benefits. The company is improving with steady leadership changes that have been occuring for the past 1 year. Minimal dose and contamination.

    Cons

Little management oversight in the field has led to staff making reoccuring errors (not risk significant to the public).

    Advice to Management

Reinforce first line supervisor time in the field to a minimum for 2-4 hours a day. Meetings requiring first line supervisors can be had after normal working hours to allow the supervisor time to supervise and lead/oversee their employees work performance.
