I worked at Wolters Kluwer full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

WK provides a middle of the road employee experience. You can be sure that once you have a position in the company, you would have to proactively leave the company to exit it. Work-life balance is good here. There will hardly be a time that you will need to pull 35+ hour weeks. Management tends to lean on VERY conservative estimates for projects to avoid failures.

    Cons

There isn't much in terms of personal growth assistance from management. They are good at saying they believe in employees getting training, but will not spend a dime on helping employees get the training to do their work. Raises have been very meager, the amount of increase doesn't even cover cost of living changes from year to year. There is a lot of infighting amongst the sister companies that are supposed to be working together. Top management sets very ideal and lofty goals but what ends up happening is the each BU will place those goals secondary to their bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Offer some kind of incentive to employees that perform above average consistently, rather than down play their achievements and praise those doing far less quality work to "even" out the team dynamic. More should be done to get the entire team to work harder to do more things, and not stay under the radar for fear of making mistakes.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Wolters Kluwer full-time

    Pros

    Good work/life balance.
Good values (although often just words without effective realization in company strategies)
    Interest in innovation

    Cons

In Italy, there are few opportunities to advance for employers located outside Milan. No chances for rises, also for high performers.
Management is hired from other companies (no internal selection).

    Advice to Management

The company in Italy is fragmented. No synergy among business units: every goes alone.
