I have been working at Wonderful Pistachios & Almonds full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Company discounts (lots of them)

    Cons

So much cons, I’ll try to list as much as I can.
First: there is absolutely NO work/life balance in this place. Managers expect you to work Saturdays, Sundays and even holidays without explanation. They tell you -“Production can never stop”. Their priority is to churn out more and more pistachios and almonds and any other thing (including your family emergency doesn’t matter)
This place tasks your mental abilities to the max. Managers do not manage but leave their jobs (often times dirty) to HR to do. Their is no confidentiality in this place and gossip is always abound.
    Three: the commute is hellish.
Employees get fired for the flimsiest excuses. HR and upper management makes no effort to mitigate or manage instead chosing to fire. I’ve counted at least 10 people fired for virtually no reason while I’ve been here and we all work in constant fear of losing our jobs.
There’s no progression model. Promotions are literally based on how close you are to the manager or how subservient you are. There’s been quite a few cases where less qualified individuals were promoted over more qualified employees simply because the former was close to the manager. Need I also mention the sexual harassment allegations that’s always swept under the rug?
People are rotated around Different job at the Managements discretion and it’s either you conform or resign. Managers screaming at employees. Managers and employee almost getting into a physical fight. I could go on and on.
This place looks good on the exterior but horrible from the inside. You’re better off without it.

    Advice to Management

None. They’re not going to listen anyway, so why bother.

I guess it pays well, though prepare for that to be the only motivation

    Cons

    Stagnant processes hamper progress
Everything is 'by the numbers' - not encouraged to ask 'why' rather just to 'do'
Team and company culture is non-existant
