I have been working at Wood Group PSN full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good pay and Great hours

    Cons

Away from home two weeks. Also when to working on a platform owned by another company Wood Group forgets about you. You are under the rule of the owner of the platform. Which is the way it should be but, I haven't heard from The WG in 6 months.

I have been working at Wood Group PSN full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best part of the job is you usually have little to do with Wood Group unless you have training that is due. The job is actually up to your client that you will work for, and it all depends on how your client treats you. My experience is great, but I have personal connections with the client.

    Cons

Large company, and has very little personal touch to anything. Most offices have several thousand employees, and you are basically just a body filling a position. The con is Wood Group will hire just about anyone if they meet the minimum requirements. It seems that most employees are able to bounce around when they get fired by their client, and avoid being terminated.

    Advice to Management

The management does a good job with training events, and doing what they usually do with a company this large.

  7. "Wood Group is an ok company, when it was managed by the "Scot's" here in the US it seemed to be more "people" oriented"

    Pros

Diverse group of employees - good benefits- CEO is a great guy- wish he would clone himself into all management roles. People under him need to really learn from him.

    Cons

"People" are not at the core of their values- some managers don't seem to want to help you grow.

    Advice to Management

the best way to get people to work better is by providing them the comfort of growth, great family-work life-

I have been working at Wood Group PSN full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Various places and companies to work with. 14 days on and 14 days off. Decent benefits, medical, dental, vision and 401k with matching.

    Cons

Pay is not great for the time spent away from your family and friends. That may depend on which contract you're working under. If you have a family (wife and children), being gone for 14 days away from them is hard. Some of the people you will work with are not friendly at all. Which can make for a very long 14 days. Training classes are mandatory and are only scheduled during your time off (although you do get paid for those days) which cuts into time home with family.

    Advice to Management

Don't tell your employees lies to keep them working. That will only satisfy them in the short term.

I worked at Wood Group PSN full-time

    Pros

Great co-workers, competitive salaries, 401k with company match, safety conscious, work half days on Friday, great experience

    Cons

Terrible managers, company does not care about employees, no opportunities for training, limited advancement opportunities, low morale, lots of rumors and guessing games because management doesn't communicate with emloyees

    Advice to Management

Promote people to management based on qualifications and not who they know. Train management on how to treat and talk to staff. Make your employees feel valued.

I worked at Wood Group PSN full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very safety conscious, more than willing to promote within. Excellent benefits! I appreciated the trust and new responsibilities they put on me during my years there.

    Cons

Once merged with PSN, there were gray lines when it comes to establishing responsibilities, could change from day to day. Mass lay-offs puts too much pressure on certain employees who's plate was full and would have to take on someone else's position who was let go of the day before.

    Advice to Management

Develop an outline of proper responsibility for each department. Respect the work load of each employee. Annual one on one review would help. Listen to your loyal employees, they know what's needed to make an efficient team.

    Pros

Mostly very good people to work with, the Core Values of the past PSN regime are excellent...Bob Keiller is an awesome inspiring and sincere leader.

    Cons

In the Americas almost all senior jobs are held by legacy Wood Group Scottish imports at huge ex Pat salaries. They ignore the Core Values and laugh at Bob Keiller who is the best most sincere Major Company CEO that you are ever likely to meet.

    Advice to Management

Replace legacy Americas senior management and restore observance of the Core Values.
