What’s the best way to have a lack of compensation and incentive conversation in your department? I went above and beyond for years doing extra work, organizations etc and nothing has been reflected in pay. I thought my 5 year was going to finally show something but it did not. I’ve inquired about pay but it’s gotten nowhere.

Most unprofessional company I ever worked for

Mar 20, 2023 - Branch Manager in Heath, OH

    Pros

    - I was grateful for the opportunity and the pay as it was decent (started at a salary base of $48,000), but once my market manager left it was intolerable there.

    Cons

    - They play favorites. There's a lot of people who have been there way too long and should have been fired a long time ago. - Chronically short-staffed - you will be expected to travel to other banks with little to no notice. - Constant pestering about sales and delusional upper management. - If people call off or take time off, there's no coverage. - Poor training - it's so bad that sometimes you and the management can't even open the bank for the customers.

    High Turnover

Mar 14, 2023 - Branch Manager II in Spartanburg, SC

    Pros

My boss was awesome! He was always there to support me. They have a great system with single sign-on.

    Cons

NO cellphone policy, it was too extreme. I have worked for financial institutions for 25 years and I have never come across that. They have a great system with single sign-on. They need to revamp and create more teller spaces at their busier branches. The process/policy to get checks approved that are over a certain dollar amount was CRAZY to me and didn't deliver good customer service. I understand protecting the bank from losses but I also feel like they should re-evaluate their immediate availability. There should be credit checks for those that want to apply for it.

Good health plan, competitive pay, not enough advancement

Mar 6, 2023 - Retail Banker II in Huntsville, AL

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great health benefits, you get them the first of the month after you start working Employee stock ownership plan Good pay for what you do

    Cons

Not enough advancement opportunities other than management, all the back office positions are in Texas. On your feet all day depending on your manager, they want you out in Walmart selling accounts unless you are doing a transaction. EXTREMELY sales focused, they pretend like they care about maintaining customer relationships, but really all they want out of you is new accounts No actual breaks, you are on the clock when you eat and can't leave the store to get food.

    Good Opportunity

    Pros

Hired on with no banking history. Basic procedures. (At my location) good employees and a good HR.

    Cons

Depending on branch size, can be difficult to get days off. Our location had no manager the entire time. Constantly having to advertise in your Walmart location.

    Beware

Feb 8, 2023 - Retail Banker II in Milford, OH

    Business Outlook

    Pros

You get a bonus- when you meet the unrealistic goals management sets monthly then harasses you for not getting

    Cons

They say you wear all of the hats, which sounds great! However it is a trick to get you to do all things for a low pay. There is zero work life balance, you go in when it’s barely light out and and you get out when it’s dark. The customer base is rude and you are expected to make a sales quota. If you do not reach goals you will be written up. You can take sick time but you get a demerit for everyday you miss even if you have the time to cover it. There is zero support from management to staff. The turn over rate is insane so do not get comfortable with you coworkers. The management is unprofessional which is why I had to leave.

The hours are not like other banks. You are a teller, banker, and a marketer. You must meet goals or be micro managed.
