I worked at Woodforest National Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Awesome benefits, okay pay, opportunity for advancement, paid a day early, management meetings at great locations

    Cons

Horrible work/life balance, no consideration for family or personal time when off, high turnover, upper management can be rude & inconsistent at times, retail bankers and assistant managers get away with everything, open long hours and only closed for Christmas, rude customers, open during bad weather/state of emergency, regional management often undermined branch management, lack of appreciation of employees, lack of significant merit increases, poor training

    Advice to Management

Value & appreciate those that work for you, offer a better training system, be transparent, hire more qualified individuals, and be more available and willing to work with your employees rather than just show up at a branch and criticize things or not show up at all

I worked at Woodforest National Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good benefits.
    Vacation was good.
    Great coworkers.

    Cons

    Unrealistic sales goals/minimums.
Salary is in the low side.
Corporate does not stand behind their word when they make a mistake that affects someone else’s life and wages.
Open 7 days a week with later hours than traditional banks.
    Inside Walmart.
    Banking 10%/ Sales 90%
As I left it was becoming micromanaged to an extent that was concerning.

    Advice to Management

Pay a little better and stand behind your word when you make a mistake.

I worked at Woodforest National Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A good entry level job into the banking industry, Retail Bankers act as tellers and personal bakers, so you can learn to perform almost any bank function.

    Cons

Woodforest has a borderline predatory overdraft program, which is very popular, so it is uncomfortable to help people sign up for/ navigate something I think is awful. Corporate seemed very unaware/unrealistic about the bank branched. We were expected to sign people up for loans, but almost no one had good enough credit to get approved. Most managers seemed like hard workers but in our branch the manager was TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE! There were things I knew how to do working there 1 year that the manager could not do, who had been there for like 8 or 10 years.

    Advice to Management

Corporate should visit branches everywhere, and get an understanding of the customers. To stop pushing the overdraft program. Please promote based on merit and not relationships/time at the company.

    Pros

The hours, Sundays off, and working as a team to meet goals.

    Cons

The pay, management, and not much flexibility or balance with your outside life.

I have been working at Woodforest National Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great entry level bank to gain the knowledge of the ins and outs of banking. Most employees are cross trained between both the Teller and the personal banker role, so the gain of knowledge is literally what you make it.

    Cons

Terrible work-life balance. My boss actually stated in a meeting (out loud) that the bank was more important than her own family. 😳😳 Got wrote up for texting manager at close to 4am when I finally got my sick baby to sleep after being up with him screaming for more than 24 hours!! Boss wrote me up for not “calling” in-and texting at an inappropriate time. Even though I get calls from the alarm company after 12a that I’m instructed to be available for. I would consider that to be an inappropriate time as well though! That double standard is THE WORST!

    Advice to Management

Don’t make your employees feel like crap for prioritizing their families. Family should be what’s most important, and not the other way around!
