I have been working at Woodforest National Bank full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great community involvement. Most branches have amazing customer service. Plenty of opportunity to advice within the company (sometimes only if you're willing to relocate).

    Cons

You work long hours (9am-7pm - Monday through Friday, Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday hours). You must also work holidays and weekends.

    Advice to Management

All management branch manager or high should be required to have a years worth of management with Woodforest before promoting. This ensures all staff understand their roles and duties along with company culture and standards.

I have been working at Woodforest National Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy job, decent insurance, 2 weeks vacation on hire

    Cons

No training. 10 cents raise per year. No care for families or work balance. Sales is of utmost importance and nothing else matters, Do not comment on blog when invited. You can be disciplined, even if it is positive feedback. Underhanded upper management. Illegal use of photos posted. Discouraged to sit down during 10-11 hours shifts. NO LUNCH BREAKS ALLOWED.

    Advice to Management

    Care for employees and families

I have been working at Woodforest National Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Its a very laid back environment in the sense that they're really not as aggressive in regards to sales goals and account goals, much like wells fargo was.

    Cons

It might have just been the branch that I was in but the lack of organization makes you not really want to overachieve anything. Also, I worked there for a little over a year and was only offered a raise once I put my two weeks in. I'm accustomed to being considered for a raise usually at the 6th month mark or at the 1 year mark.

    Advice to Management

The cons I listed might have just been issues with my branch. Perhaps overall its a good company to work for but from my personal experience it wasn't great.

I have been working at Woodforest National Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very laid back atmosphere. Daily operations are easy to understand. Reference guides are available to help you with more complex situations.

    Cons

Working diligently and making constant sacrifices of time and efforts will not put you in a position for promotion. It is a big issue when retail bankers are more knowledgeable than branch managers.

    Advice to Management

Create a system to bring awareness to and highlight excellent employees.

I have been working at Woodforest National Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly environment, most of your co-workers will be great to work with. Good for collecting job experience, as they will give you on the job training. Just a great overall philosophy for a bank. They do offer performance biased bonuses.

    Cons

Under paid for the amount of 'hats' you have to wear. The bonuses are distributed at the discretion of the branch manager, and sometimes you can receive little to none of the Bonus, even if your branch made it's goal, and you did your best. Have to work throughout the entire week, and over most holidays. Scheduling is done six months in advance, so you have to plan your life half a year ahead.

    Advice to Management

Pay your bankers more! Your company has the funds to do this! Branch Managers do not micro manage everyone.

    Pros

More experience than a normal teller
    Opportunity for overtime
    Vacation days

    Cons

Don't get two days off in a row
Never get a full weekend off
Very few on site staff, 2 on average
    Very little training

    Advice to Management

Require 3 employees on cash receiving and audit days

    Pros

Pay is more here because of the multi tasking between a banker and a teller

    Cons

Hours of operation are horrible for the workers

    Pros

Great customers, insurance not to bad.

    Cons

No training, long hours on your feet, employees must purchase required uniforms and they are horribly expensive, management is awful, very low pay and they expect regular employees to do management work without compensation, employees actually work off the clock and management is aware of, branch manager allowed to talk horrible to employees, management has knowledge of duplicating accounts, loan products all while customer is not present and unaware of the fact their financial information has been compromised.

I worked at Woodforest National Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Community based so really values there customers and goes above and beyond to maintain their food name. Good insurance benefits for single individuals. Great starter company for someone looking to enter the banking field.

    Cons

May be difficult to move up. Managers go for the familiar faces so if you stick around long enough you may potentially move up. Insurance can get pricey if you need to cover oyour entire family. Open late and weekends (Sundays included) so may interfere with family and personal life if you have one.

    Advice to Management

Teach your employees all that they can learn so that they too will have the opportunity for growth and development.

    Pros

Paid every two weeks, bonus structure

    Cons

The training was awful, customers can be a bit much, management is incompetent and seldom there. Long hours for little pay

    Advice to Management

Take time with your new employees, training and teaching them how to be successful so your retention can be better.
