I have been working at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Try as I might, I can't really think of any other than experience. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.

    Cons

Management is terrible, favoritism (friends help friends get positions regardless of qualifications or none), always a staff shortage, which equals to way too much work and not enough pay. Very "ghetto" behavior displayed by employees. They are very rude.

    Advice to Management

Brush up on management skills please!! Use your resources and time a little more wisely.

I have been working at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Reasonable salary and benefits. Unique mix of patients: diverse, hearty, vivid. Most recently there has been a better effort to hire the right people.

    Cons

It remains a largely unaccountable system. The IT and HR departments are horrendous. The upper echelon of the administration is not engaging and supportive. The percentage of substandard employees is still overwhelming. Surprisingly inefficient (to some degree even demoralizing) relationship with NYU.

    Advice to Management

Listen more and show effective support. Get rid of the bad apples.

    Pros

Alot of minorities in high level positions. Shows that it can be done. Great environment to work in.

    Cons

Human Resources extremely slow. Low wages, not much room for growth in the hospital. They try to keep you as a temp for as long as they can until you threaten to leave.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your temporary employees who contribute a great deal. Human Resources needs to be run much better and efficiently.
