Current Employee - Certified Nursing Assistant CNA in Waterville, ME

I have been working at Woodlands Senior Living full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good hourly wages if you are a CNA

    Cons

Difficult coworkers, PSS’ don’t get the same education and therefore don’t understand things about residents. Unpleasant environment

    Advice to Management

Pay CNA’s more an hour so they have more initiative to want to work there with what they deal with

Revise mission statement and enforce its values.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Woodlands Senior Living

    Pros

The residents are lovely people. Caring for others is very rewarding. Seeing the residents happy and safe is a wonderful feeling!

    Cons

The wages are VERY low. The PCAs and CRMAs have people's lives in their hands and can make the same working in a fast food place or as a housekeeper somewhere. Management is never around and never answer their phones when they are on call. The facility is VERY understaffed so even if you are a full time employee you are asked/mandated to work more than you want/can. Half of the people who work there do not speak English...

    Advice to Management

Please pay your workers more!! This line of work is very physically and emotionally demanding and other ageencies in the area pay more. Please offer better benefits. Health insurance for a family plan is 70% of the paycheck. Please treat employees equally and please make sure everyone is trained!

  4. "The residents we take care of are nice, but it's a difficult job with low low low pay."

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Woodlands Senior Living full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The residents are pleasant and the grounds are nice.

    Cons

The pay is exceedingly low to the point where co workers leave constantly for other jobs, leaving the remaining staff stretched too thin. Even a full time employee cannot afford to pay for the health benefits they offer which are meager to begin with.

    Advice to Management

A starting wage above minimum would help retain employees and perhaps some help with the cost of health benefits would assist in slowing down the extremely high turn around rate on employees.
