I worked at WorldVenture full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

WorldVenture provides an incredible environment where you can grow professionally, personally, and spiritually. They are fueled by prayer and embrace innovative approaches to missions and cultivate relationships that result in healthy terms of service both internationally and domestically.

    Cons

WorldVenture was going through significant changes towards the end of my time there, so sometimes there were challenges related to "the unknown" and "the unclear."

    Advice to Management

During seasons of growth and transition, constant communication (listening and sharing at all levels) is key for strength, trust, and maximum positive impact.

I have been working at WorldVenture full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    (1) Member care: This organization has a history of unparalleled member care. This was a huge incentive for joining the organization. (2) Learning organization: WorldVenture is concerned to understand the state of the American church as well as the global expansion of the Gospel. Changes in strategy are difficult in an older organization. But, I appreciate the organization's willingness to try. (3) Committed leadership:...

    Cons

    (1) Whereas change can lead an organization toward greater effectiveness, it can also lead to chaos. It is increasingly difficult to navigate policy and procedural changes within the organization. (2) The mission of the organization has historically been guided by the creativity of teams around the globe as they respond to their contextual needs in collaboration with national colleagues. Recent changes seem to pivot...

    Advice to Management

Solidify changes to policy and processes then focus on realignment with mission.

I have been working at WorldVenture full-time

    Pros

The work you do has a purpose. HR is very progressive and does a great job hosting morale-boosting activities, and half-days on Friday (if your workload allows it) are also a plus.

    Cons

Communication throughout the organization is very lacking. It often feels that, if you don't know the right people, you aren't afforded the opportunities to grow or advance that those with "connections" receive. And while they are usually communicated well, large changes are implemented without the consultation of those who it impacts the most, leaving many in hard places. The organization is very slow to hold those...

    Advice to Management

Communicate better. When implementing changes, consult those who work in the area of the change and ask their opinion before unilaterally implementing it. Recognize those that work at HQ for their service and dedication; their jobs are just as important as those who serve in the field.

    I worked at WorldVenture full-time

    Pros

Great people, hearts in the right place. Enjoyed my coworkers for the most part. The company seems to be evolving really fast.

    Cons

It is a non-profit, so compensation is far less than what is available elsewhere. Probably not a good fit if you don't have a strong passion for the work.

    I worked at WorldVenture

    Pros

The people at WorldVenture are wonderful. There is a certain amount of latitude that allows you to accomplish your goals.

    Cons

Changes were quick and while the communication from upper management was good, employees felt that in many areas they had no impact on the changes. Their opinion was not going to make a difference, decisions had already been made.

    Advice to Management

You have great people working with you, but keep changing this fast and you'll likely lose a few more of them.

    Pros

    Great executive leadership (except IT)

    Cons

IT leadership lacking. IT undermines PMO role.

    Advice to Management

PMO organization must be under the CFO

I worked at WorldVenture full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

They allow you to really take your abilities and gifts and run with it. They have accountability in place, but they don't look to limit you.

    Cons

Their accountability can be a bit too loose sometimes, and certain workers would benefit from a bit more oversight.
