I worked at Worldwide Clinical Trials full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job flexibility and decent people for most part but is not worth it

    Cons

Management is terrible and lacking any leadership. Turnover has and still is one of the biggest issues. In addition is a lack of training. If you want to grow you need to suck up and it is more if you are liked to grow or if not, find another job because you're nothing but a piece of paper to then.

    Advice to Management

Lots of good employees have quit due to favoritism. Extremely high turnover. For a small cro as a job seeker I would run and not interview here.

I have been working at Worldwide Clinical Trials full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits - great people to work with.

    Cons

We are always told that "management" wants to know our concerns, but not one of my emails have ever been answered by upper management.

I have worked in the corporate world for a long time and unfortunately WCT is the epitome of holding on to lower costs at the sake of their staff. Unbelievable high turnover of CRA's especially.

    Advice to Management

Stop worrying about pennies and create a good work/team environment. If you concentrated on making employees happy, you wouldn't have such a high turnover, how does executives not know this concept?

    Pros

    International workforce of talented employees.

    Cons

Company misrepresents career path advancement opportunities. Executives often work remotely and cannot be relied on for input or support. Executives and managers make it clear your mission is to help them achieve their bonuses. Make no mistake about the company's corporate culture. It is not inclusive with limited project controls leadership talent.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time in the office, and less time launching meaningless emails. Recruit creative talent instead of the usual CRO clones.

I have been working at Worldwide Clinical Trials full-time

    Pros

Salaries match industry average and annual performance reviews are required which allows the possibility of a merit increase each year. Some Line Managers are helpful.

    Cons

    Corporate leadership lacks diversity.

Not enough FTEs on-board which makes it difficult for project teams to deliver on-time quality services due to continual 'missing' WCT headcount throughout study conduct.

    Advice to Management

When hiring, consider greater diversity at corporate level and filling study project team vacancies with qualified&experienced clinical research professionals. Embrace suggestions and ideas offered by WCT functional area team leaders.

Immediate supervisors are very supportive, and generally great to work for

    Cons

Upper management is extremely disconnected. They generally take on more work than can be handled by the staff and end up forcing people to work longer hours or weekends.

    Pros

WCT was a good place to start for new graduates and gain experience in clinical research.

    Cons

Employees did not seem important to the company and future goals were not very transparent. Movement up through departments was also made difficult.

    Advice to Management

Make your employees feel more valued.

    Pros

Nice interaction with subjects. You meet all kinds of people.

    Cons

Management treats you like you are replaceable. And hard work is not recognized.

    Advice to Management

Please train all managers on how to manage and don't just place them in a leadership position just because they have a degree.

    Pros

Staff other than several paramedics are great to work with; the large majority of subjects are reasonable and on time.

    Cons

Support staff are abused. Few have permanent jobs and are given as little as 30 minutes a day - who would want to drive in for 30 minutes of pay?

Paramedics were used to "running the show" until RNs were introduced a few years ago. Leadership backs the paramedics over RNs. Some will tell you they don't like RNs, some will not work unless directed, or when they want to look busy, they pick and choose what jobs they want to do. Of course, there are a few exceptions.

    Advice to Management

Hire more full time support staff and/or provide more hours if you want loyalty, good performance, and to avoid "no shows". Watch how your paramedics work with your RNs - let RNs rate the paramedics so they'll be forced to accept their presence.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Worldwide Clinical Trials full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Introductory laboratory experience, generally nice people in the Austin lab, fairly flexible hours/work schedule

    Cons

Low compensation (less than $.50 per hour increases per year) and very stressful and political environment. Line managers and management will throw you under the bus or reprimand you any chance they get. Ultra fast paced environment with little time for complete training or appreciation for your work as a scientist. Little chance for movement or advancement in the company.

    Advice to Management

Need to practice some empathy towards employees, people management/treatment skills are pretty low here
