I have been working at Wowza Media Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company culture that fosters open-mindedness, impactful work that is frequently adopted by the team, and we can make our own destiny by establishing projects that can achieve solid results.

    Cons

Hierarchy is nontraditional, so you need to define your own career path, but will have strong support in following that path.

    Advice to Management

Continue offering tools for personal growth, but with some guidance. Resources for personal improvement are abundant, but also overwhelming. Mentorship would be extremely helpful.

I have been working at Wowza Media Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Flexible in-office policy (get to work remote)
    - Provide any equipment and software you might need
    - Stocked kitchen at the office. Great snacks!
    - Best company culture I have ever encountered by far
    - Management really listens
    - Not afraid to try new things that might work better than current process
    - Genuinely customer-focused
    - Great benefits, generous PTO policy
    - Truly deliver work/life balance
    - It might sound trite, but teamwork really is a thing here

    Cons

    - Core product focus can shift at times
    - Office can be a bit distracting for some types of work (working remote an option, however)
    - Sometimes managerial decisions can be a bit opaque (but you're encouraged to ask questions and get real answers)

    Advice to Management

Overall, keep doing what you're doing, but please keep in mind that shifting the focus of the entire company from one big thing to another is an expensive and consuming (time and mental energy) task for all involved.

I have been working at Wowza Media Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    *Great collaborative fun culture!
*Employees are given autonomy over the work that they do and able to take on new challenges
*CEO is inspiring, cares about employees, and encourages their voice
    *Cool products and clients

    Cons

Would like to see a more defined career path although employees can raise their hand to take on new projects and expand work areas.

    Advice to Management

Continue on the culture path and work to stimulate growth

I worked at Wowza Media Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Engaging technology and some fantastic employees

    Cons

Disingenuous upper management, destructive adoption of Holacracy, minimal career-growth opportunities outside of engineering, horrid HR, very low level of diversity

    Advice to Management

Don't tell employees to be open and honest with management and then seek vengeance when they do so.

I worked at Wowza Media Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great product and very nice people to work with

    Cons

Only a few influencial people have a say, with a culture that is strict and non negotiable.

    Advice to Management

Consider the impact of your hiring and layoffs in the lives of professionals, just being extremelly appreciative is not enough in a world where professionals leaving your company will have a say in the industry. Allow individuals with talents to provide the value to the company that you seek by now allowing a few managers to dimmed down from participating.

    Pros

Snacks, lunches, and happy hours. Co-workers are smart hard working professionals and loved going to work every day. They try to empower their employees who to be change agents.

    Cons

They are operating out of a type of "flat" organization. This is relatively new for the company so there were some growing pains. Most people seem to embrace the change though.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

    Pros

    - Get to work with really cool people on some really cool things!

     - By implementing a Holacracy framework across the company it really allows employees to work autonomously. End result is that a lot more gets done without a "manager" asking your for status every minute.

     - the company really listens to employees.

     - Benefits (medical, dental, PTO policy, etc.) are all awesome!

     - Pay is competitive.

     - VERY family oriented. Nobody looks at you funny when you need to cut out early to catch your kids baseball game.

     - The people that work at Wowza are fabulous people.

    Cons

    - As of this review most of upper management is struggling with the Holacracy approach.
This is causing the Holacracy implementation to move rather slowly and there is a general split of those who get it and those who don't.

     - Growth of the company has been slower then expected despite the huge number of sales people that have been hired.

    Advice to Management

Fish or cut bait on Holacracy.

I have been working at Wowza Media Systems full-time

    Pros

The people: Wowza hires amazing and talented people—and they all are very passionate about the company and their job. There have been many times where it is my coworkers who keep me going on a bad day.

    Cons

Definitely going through some growing pains, the company is growing so quickly, but the core and the values remain steadfast.

I have been working at Wowza Media Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Too many to list, but the positive attitudes and next level professionalism is bar none. Working remote and treated like an asset instead of a number is, as another stated: Refreshing. A company that will make sure you have the tools to succeed. Open to new ideas, and more professional than any experience I have had so far.

    Cons

It will make it hard to work anywhere else. It will make you look back with dismay at time wasted in toxic environments that destroyed your confidence and drive ...

    Advice to Management

Keep listening and interacting, it is making all the difference.
