I have been working at WuXi AppTec full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A basic insight to how a laboratory functions at suboptimal levels.

    Cons

Extremely high turn over rate Low pay High expectations with little chance for advancement Racism Sexism Management looking the other way Favoritism Non compliance with FDA regulations More firings than seasonings in pasta sauce

    Advice to Management

You expect too much from your employees than you are willing to give for hard work and dedication. When an employee stays at your company for 3+ years and shows good work ethics, they should be rewarded for their work and not glossed over for a promotion as a possibility of a promotion is used to dangle just out of their reach. Focus on arguments towards upper management that pay must be increased so that your staff will stay with your company. Part of the issue of multiple problems found within processes is due to high turn overs, which leads processes to not be improved so that they would be within compliance, which then proceeds to more problems within the protocols/standard operating procedures that aren’t addressed, and you getting fired due to audit findings. Work from the bottom up on improving your laboratories as opposed to the top to the bottom and you will see some magnificent results/staff consistently. Or keep doing what you’re doing and see more people leave/get fired.

I worked at WuXi AppTec full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people and it's good experience for recent graduates to go somewhere better in the near future.

    Cons

The benefits, low pay, long days. This place will kill your spirit. If you get hired here right out of school, just dream about going somewhere better because it'll eventually happen.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better and stop micro-managing. Actually listen to these reviews and change because it's the reason why there's no one applying to this place.

I worked at WuXi AppTec full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some great, talented people. Bagel Wednesday is always fun. Can't think of any other pros.

    Cons

Low pay; not competitive with industry. Management doesn't value employees. High turnover rate. Favoritism...just a churn and burn environment. Will not hire to handle increasing growth. Expect current employees to work late and handle workload.

    Advice to Management

Pay the talent that you do hire and promote fairly within. Value your employees.

I worked at WuXi AppTec for more than a year

    Pros

You can learn a great deal and take that knowledge elsewhere!

    Cons

Long hrs., incompetent supervisors, management has no regard for their employees, low pay.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your employees as disposal machines. Just because you are a Chinese company, doesn't mean that you can or should operate business as if you are in China. (You also shouldn't treat your employees abroad this way either.) America has labor standards and you should regard your employees as employees and not as sweat shop workers! Also, HR operates in such a unprofessional manner. Both HR and my direct supervisor operated in an unprofessional manner and discussed confidential info. Lastly, WuXi should appoint more professional & knowledgable supervisors. My direct supervisor should've relied heavily on lab techs to assist her because she lacked the knowledge to do her job.

I have been working at WuXi AppTec full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people to work with! You will be very secure in your job. You learn a ton because you are pulled in a lot of different directions. Room for growth and promotion depending on your job.

    Cons

Low pay, lots of work/hours, low appreciation of employees. Upper management makes a lot of low level decisions based off of high level perspective

    Advice to Management

I would suggest that Management and Executive put more effort into listening to the "low-level" employees to understand more about the day to day and how their decisions effect the employees all over the company.

I worked at WuXi AppTec full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Time off was flexible. Able to make up hours and come in on off days. Coworkers were generally good people. Pay is very low for the work expected of you.

    Cons

Management is completely ignorant to what goes on in their departments. Leadership s nonexistent. Employees are not valued. Training is not managed properly. Individuals are hired and not properly trained until mistakes occur. Turn over is extremely high because of the low pay and lack of appreciation for good employees.

    Advice to Management

Be more hands on in your department. An employee should never ask you something and you not know the answer or know where to get the answer. That makes you look incompetent and it makes your employees doubt your abilities as their manager. Too many managers know just as much or even less than the employees under them. That is unacceptable, not to mention unprofessional.
