I worked at Wunderman full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Worked in the Chicago office. Lots of resources. Great creative and account services team.

    Cons

Not a lot of support to our office from other WPP offices.

I worked at Wunderman (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people. Laid back atmosphere. Never felt stressed out about the work or the deadlines.

    Cons

A little disorganized. Hired a cocky ECD whom was unable to retain a large part of the business, leading to layoffs.

I have been working at Wunderman (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work/life balance for some must be good because most people seem to leave at 5pm most days.
They have the nicest, most-efficient IT department ever.

    Cons

There is a definite absence of structure or process, and no one seems to care. As a result, relationships between teams are confusing and more difficult than they need to be. How the agency sees itself vs. how it clients sees it is not something well-conveyed to anyone on the account or creative side. The absence of strong leadership and ownership for some accounts/departments is frightening...and again, no one seems to notice or care that people are not prepared for the roles they were given.

    Advice to Management

Find strong leaders who can also manage teams.

  5. "Good place to cut teeth as a Young Professional, or get hired in as a seasoned agency veteran. Difficult place to grow."

    Pros

Good place to work out of college or to come into with previous experience.

Good benefits and perks - vacation schedule is generous if you can find the time to take your days off

Young, energetic, confident coworkers to interact with on a daily basis

    Cons

Career advancement is difficult due to hiring freezes/lack of new business opportunities

Financial advancement is almost nonexistent due to pay freezes. Unless you are coming into the company with previous work experience/compensation benchmarks, you will be slow-tracked financially

Although vacation time is a nice perk, there is a strange sense of pride in not using your vacation days due to "being too busy" to take them.

Work-life balance is not a priority and there is no "overtime" for working long hours/weeks

Travel schedule can be demanding depending on the department in which you work.

    Advice to Management

Facilitate better communication (open dialogue/listening/understanding) between management and account teams. Idea generation is an area where young professionals can help, but often times are silenced/intimidated by upper management wanting to keep the status quo with their client.

    Pros

    • The work environment is top notch. Young energetic and motivated people who are wholly trusted by supervisors and account directors
    • Vacation time is fantastic
    • Upper management treat employees like peers. Mutual respect exists in the company.

    Cons

    • Withheld benefits for new hires. Never given a timeframe for when/if the benefits would come.
    • Promotions are possible, but recently employees are being promoted without salary increase.
***cons are no doubt a sign of the current economic times

    Advice to Management

Be honest with employees about not receiving benefits. Please continue to hire those who respect and are honest to lower level executives.

    Pros

Great people and a fun environment. Had flexibility as to how I worked and trust from management that the work would get done.

    Cons

My only issue (perhaps not experienced by others) is that I found it difficult to shift duties, responsibilities and accounts. Therefore difficult to learn new skills and businesses...effectively pigeonholed.

    Advice to Management

Move the good people around and provide opportunity to learn and grow - they will be more valuable assets.

    Pros

    Cons

Most of the upper management displayed inappropriate harassment-type behavior and encouraged a bully culture

    Advice to Management

Upper management should be accountable for inappropriate behavior.
