Progress at the cost of quality

Provides wide range of services, it is in many ways, a one stop shop. There are great people who work there and community is vibrant and diverse. This agency is currently WyCo's best hope for mental health. There are good things happening here and it's a good place to get your feet wet.
Cons
This agency does value staff. There are high rates of turnover and burnout. They are not fully accountable to the community they serve. WBHN is not operating in alignment with their mission. Leadership is hollow and lacks follow through.

Co workers are great, pay is unlivable
Jan 11, 2022 - Case Manager in Kansas City, KSRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great teammates, if this is truly your calling this is a great place to work on the adult side. The clients were my favorite though. And peers you work with all are motivated to go to truly help people. Unlike other fields, here everyone's focus is on how to help the clients, the obstacles thrown their way and help them succeed.
Cons
But hopefully you have a trust fund because it is also unliveable to live off of 33k a year. After 6 years and having to work additional jobs to make ends meet I finally had to leave because evergreen pre pandemic we almost never got a raise. They could never afford to give us one. And honestly with as much as we ran out cars into the ground, flat tires, and oil changes not to mention they pay less than federal standards for miles in gas compensation.... it just gets overwhelming.

Pros
Supportive direct supervisor and kind coworkers. Flexible.
Cons
Too high caseloads with not enough time or pay to get the job done. Very high turnover resulting from low moral and unkept promises from upper management. Really no incentive to be better. It felt like I was drowning the entire time I was there.

Great Organization. I'm proud to be a part of.

Great Company Culture, They have recently increased salaries to be more completive. Money is important but growth, autonomy and solid management go along way when your salary is not competitive with the surrounding market.
Cons
There are con's at every employer and most times they are subjective. I have no complaints with WBHN that cant be resolved within our organization.

Helping Others May Make You Unable To Help Yourself
Jun 6, 2022 - Adult Case Manager in Kansas City, KSRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Opportunity to serve the undeserved in your community, Salary is steadily increasing (got hired on around 35k a year, steadily increasing toward 50k)
Cons
Too much office politics, you pretty much an Uber Driver (number one client need is typically transportation), Management does not have your back

Good atmosphere, poor work/life balance
May 15, 2022 - Case Manager in Kansas City, KSRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good benefits, 3 weeks paid vacation and 12 days paid sick leave per year. Great coworkers and work atmosphere.
Cons
Upper management is very out of touch with the needs of the employees. Often undercuts salaries of existing employees despite offering higher salaries to new hires. No upward mobility.

Absolutely awful, traumatized from working there
Sep 1, 2021 - Mental Health Therapist in Kansas City, KSRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Some benefits. Coworkers were nice. At least I know to avoid places like this in the future.
Cons
Management knows nothing about mental health, no supervision provided, therapists are stretched way too thin. I was told they were still “developing” the job role when I was hired. Which ended up meaning they just kept adding responsibilities to my role without extra pay or telling me how I was supposed to find the time to achieve these responsibilities. No direct supervisor the majority of the time I was there because the previous one quit due to burnout, and they couldn’t find a replacement. CEO is well known to not care about clients. Building is super old. Several other therapists quit after I did, and they experienced a therapist walkout in the beginning of 2018. Everyone is disposable to them. Toxic work environment to a tee.
