      I have been working at XTRA Lease full-time for less than a year

      Pros

      I work at the Corporate Office, so my experiences might differ from branches. Good Pay, Great Benefits, 37.5 hour work week, long tenure for most employees, tuition reimbursement

      Cons

      Only con is that the Central Support office is in downtown Clayton, which means traffic is a nightmare coming in and going out.

      I have been working at XTRA Lease full-time for less than a year

      Pros

      So far, my time at Xtra has been amazing. I have been told there are some recent changes in culture, training, etc., and those changes have been for the better. The feedback of previous complaints has been taken seriously and have been corrected (work in progress).

      Cons

      Health insurance isn't the best, but the parking in Clayton is paid for, and close to everything.

      Advice to Management

      Keep up the positive changes!

      -Whoever is directly above you is giving direct feedback to region about you. This can be a pro if you have a manager that wants to see you succeed, but detrimental if you have a manager that sees you as a scapegoat when region calls. - The harder you work, the more you'll get in trouble.       Advice to Management

      -Within 7 months three ops assistants left the branch I was working at after getting constantly thrown under the bus by a lazy manager. The manager seldom checked in trailers, assigned work, or answered the phone, which gave him the ability to honestly say none of the mistakes were his fault. - If Xtra Lease wants to reverse the one year turnover rate, they need better metrics to observe individual operations performance....

      You are micromanaged management is will seek out a reason to get rid of you if you don't fit in. Not enough training.

      Put all aspects of the position in the training for that position.

      Good place to get started in the transportation industry

      Cons

      -Operations does everything- you have to know about sales, leasing, and operations -No help from Branch Management/Sales or regional management. -Senior level positions very hard to get for operations personnel -love it or leave it culture

      Advice to Management

      Stop taking operations for granted. Make operations at least feel like you've considered their ideas. actually monitor that branch managers are spending time with operations, spending a minimum number of hours a day in the office, and ensure that they are generally pulling their weight and not passing off work to operations. realize that operations is more than just checking in and out trailers.

      Great co workers and bonus is good.

      Cons

      If a 0 star was possible they earn it. Terrible management (micro managing) managers above you look to pick you apart. The HR department is laughable... 0 transparency and employee loyalty they will fire you even if you are one of the best. You can get compensated better at other companies. No air ride and this is not to benefit customers, it’s to benefit them and bottom dollar. Terrible pay at branch level to save money...

      Pros

      Work-life balance is great as you will be doing 40hrs/week, no weekends. You'll get lots of decision-making power fairly early on. Co-workers were great for the most part. The benefits aren't amazing but still very good.

      Cons

      Why bother? The Xtra Lease trainee program is severely lacking compared to other trainee positions within the industry: Penske, Ryder, ArcBest, etc all offer similar or better pay with actual, structured training programs and as far as I can tell, Xtra Lease is the only one that fires you if you hesitate to relocate across the US for promotion. More importantly, however, as Operations you'll have a 3-5 year life span...
