Looks good on paper, but frustrating reality
May 18, 2022 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-Good benefits and pay -Some teammates are kind/good to work with -Opportunities to step up as a leader (but at the expense of poor management)
Cons
-Unorganized/chaotic, which is surprising for a company of this size -I am the only woman on my team and often times feel singled out/targeted by male management -Lack of effective/efficient processes and communication -Occasional lack of respect from management/demeaning attitudes toward newer employees, lack of understanding and empathy -Lack of training -Poor leadership -Advertised as flexible work hours/good work-life balance, but this is not the reality

Good place to start but not to stay
Sep 27, 2014 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good salary at entry level, great benefits Social occasions (if in the right department) Lots of smart people in the industry Generous vacation This placed is filled with smart people who know a lot about the industry. While working there for more than a year I felt like the dumbest person in the meetings (this is good). Lots of sharp people. They have social events which are fun.
Cons
LONG long hours low morale stressful work environment, no work life balance No care from upper management, their tactic is to for you to work until you burn out and quit (I have heard conversations) God help you if you work in ad ops. I worked for a company Xaxis recently acquired. Although I liked my work there, I felt little support from upper management. Sweatshop environment. The company cared more about clients over their employees leading to low morale and general apathetic work attitude. This led to high turn over and loss of business. It is no wonder the company went out of business. There is also a lot of finger pointing.

Should be a great place to work, currently falling very short.

- Connections and networking opportunity under the WPP umbrella, especially within GroupM. - Top tier clients. - Generally really nice and intelligent coworkers.
Cons
- Almost nonexistent training and onboarding system in place. Do not join Xaxis if you aren't willing to figure it out on your own. - Junior employees are not offered or paid market value, the company allows them to take competing offers rather than match. This puts middle managers in a really tough situation. - HR/Recruiting team ranges from excellent to nonexistent. - Really long hours are the norm. - Turnover is really high, so people are constantly covering for others' work.

Pros
- Under WPP umbrella. - Is a gold star on a resume to move to another agency or within the advertising space. I would not stay past 2 years like I did. - Sink or Swim. Regardless you'll become very knowledgeable about Programmatic. -Good paid time off including extended holiday time off. - Nice offices - This place will make you intense and seem like the most ambitious/competent person in your next role. -Co-workers were great people for the most part.
Cons
- Salary is far too low for the 12 hour+ days. This is a WPP problem as they consistently seem to pay less then all the other large agencies. Numerous employees after leaving will get 30-50% raises for lateral moves. - Working on a weekend is normal to meet unreasonable deliverable expectations by the agency. - Training is very limited for the expectations from the agency of us being the programmatic experts. -Management is variable across the company. My manager was immensely toxic and led to me being severely burnt out by the end of my tenure(gaslighting, politicking, berating). I did see other good managers while I worked there. Many of them left to get big pay raises at other firms. -Promotions here are often based on time of service and playing politics. I saw some extremely competent folks consistently get passed over for promotions.

Pros
Top 5 - An amazing company if you want to learn anything about the digital landscape - The growth and potential of this company is real; you can feel it everyday - Lots of perks - Experience in all types of verticals/brand studies/kpis - Hard working and intelligent coworkers
Cons
- Depending who you sit under, but in my experience management. Their lack of understanding/empathy and their own selfish motives for personal advancement. - Not compensated well for the long hours of hard work and stress - A culture of all work no play - HR system is trying.. but needs alot of work compared to these top companies
