Extremely talented employees, struggles with GroupM bureaucracy
Jul 7, 2021 - Anonymous Employee in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Mentally stimulating, lots of extremely talented people, clever products & systems. You will learn more about programmatic than anywhere else. Great opportunity to learn.
Cons
Small salary increases YOY. Recently collapsed two junior positions into 1 which decreases the opportunity for promotion. Merit increases w/o promotion have disappeared. GroupM is counting their pennies rather than investing in staff.

Too much of work - very few things in process
Nov 22, 2022 - Account Manager in MumbaiRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Being a part of WPP (GroupM) company salary always on time.
Cons
Too much of work - No work life balance, I stayed awake late nights for months to finish the work. Expectations from leadership changes frequently; and you'd have to deal with it. Bad part is that you work like in a startup culture, and what you're paid is like an ordinary media agency. Yearly increments aren't good either. Every team in this organization works same - everybody is working under pressure. Only focus that leadership has is running new Ad campaigns for clients and increasing the yearly revenue.

Pros
Proximity to Penn Station - 5 min walk. Relatively high salary. Free fruits and happy hour once a week, game room.
Cons
Absolutely no work/life balance - you expected to be available 24/7/365 even while on vacation. The rest I simply can't say due to NDA.

Pros
Amazing group of people to work with--best reason to come to the office. Highly engaged and take work seriously.
Cons
High workload, employee turnover, and tight deadlines. Do not offer competitive salaries based on experience--would rather train new hires than retain old talent.

Good for learning about adtech and digital advertising

Big global company with a smart strategic positioning and good working products
Cons
Salaries are rather low and there is not much exchange between employees on global level.

Pros
- Under WPP umbrella. - Is a gold star on a resume to move to another agency or within the advertising space. I would not stay past 2 years like I did. - Sink or Swim. Regardless you'll become very knowledgeable about Programmatic. -Good paid time off including extended holiday time off. - Nice offices - This place will make you intense and seem like the most ambitious/competent person in your next role. -Co-workers were great people for the most part.
Cons
- Salary is far too low for the 12 hour+ days. This is a WPP problem as they consistently seem to pay less then all the other large agencies. Numerous employees after leaving will get 30-50% raises for lateral moves. - Working on a weekend is normal to meet unreasonable deliverable expectations by the agency. - Training is very limited for the expectations from the agency of us being the programmatic experts. -Management is variable across the company. My manager was immensely toxic and led to me being severely burnt out by the end of my tenure(gaslighting, politicking, berating). I did see other good managers while I worked there. Many of them left to get big pay raises at other firms. -Promotions here are often based on time of service and playing politics. I saw some extremely competent folks consistently get passed over for promotions.

Great culture, fun experience
Aug 18, 2014 - Intern in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Xaxis works hard to keep the employees happy with exciting social events and perks like free massages on Fridays. The office culture is very friendly and social and Xaxis promotes a healthy work/life balance.
Cons
-The intern salary was fairly low ($10/hr) but the perks and social events made up for it -As an intern, I often felt that I did not have enough work to do even when I took initiative to keep asking if I could assist on any tasks

It was a great run while it lasted
Jul 24, 2017 - Anonymous Employee in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Programmatic arm to WPP agencies so business constantly flowed in - Exposure to different ad forms and different industry verticals - Pay is better than agency salaries but is no match for rival ad tech companies and big names, i.e. Facebook
Cons
- Favoritism. Don't expect to move up based on your own merit. Xaxis only promotes a select few people and thus, have lost a lot of talent along the way from making bad promotion decisions. - Loss of company culture. Xaxis used to be filled with warm faces and ambitious goals, but now everyone bonds over the poor prospects of the company (misery loves company) - There are 5 account teams, and they all do things differently. Guidelines are not streamlined and communication between teams is ineffective. - Leaders of the Xaxis don't know which direction to steer the company to, and it shows - There is a training program but it's not the best. You learn on the go. Sink or swim. If you sink, management is sure to condemn you. If you swim, management is sure to take advantage of you/work you to the bone. - Work/life balance is only available for middle management who are able to pawn off the work or to those favorites - Middle management is a joke. They're a bunch of mid 20 year olds who have no idea how to manage their teams and shape their careers. They're required to go to a management retreat but that's just an all expense paid excuse to vacation and drink. - Xaxis is a huge gossip mill. Even the VPs are guilty of it.
