I have been working at Xcenda full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Excellent managers and team members. Everyone is willing to help you without any personal gain.

    Cons

It’ll be hard to work for another company if you leave

    Advice to Management

Consider changing the number of days of being “in the field” so employees can have 2 administrative days to complete company tasks

I have been working at Xcenda full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Flexible Scheduling and Travel (Depending on Territory/Assignment)

    Cons

Salary is not competitive. Team Leaders/Associate Directors with little to no experience has managers in a remote workforce with huge egos. Easily upset when they are unfamiliar about something and always on the defense. Do as your told and worker bee mentality. Just go straight to Pharma cut the middleman. No room for movement unless you worked with management from Lash Group or Covance or go on vacation with each... other.

    Advice to Management

Hold team leaders accountable, ask for feedback, TURNOVER IS HUGE SO SHOULDN'T IT BE ALARMING?!

I worked at Xcenda full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

This was hands-down the best job I ever had. All of the previous positive reviews are true. Great colleagues at all levels and departments that were hard to leave, mostly great clients, some interesting projects. Senior leadership has been with the company for nearly 20 years (>20 for the current president) and have depth and a personal connection to the company. Amazing culture for women, LGBT, moms with little... babies, geeks of all varieties. They do try very hard. It was such fun at times.

    Cons

Most of the previous reviews are true. Company seems stuck in a rut. Increased demand for revenue, with a limited number of tenured employees who still actually do project work, leads to unsustainable workload for some. No systematic time or investment in training employees to help fill this void [in scientific consulting]. Sure, there’s online leadership classes accessible, but I’m talking about the personal... day-to-day investment in associates required to provide increasingly sophisticated offerings and the serious mentorship needed to grow junior employees. This is a luxury of time. This small luxury that inspires creativity, learning, and academic curiosity is non-existent among the ranks. Life is project-to-project on a tight budget and tight timeline. Over time, this leads to a culture where a highly competent people are overworked. Potentially highly competent people are overlooked because they can’t risk bringing them into projects. That yields a mix of burnout and perceived favoritism among the overworked and overlooked, respectively. Sales people and thought leaders are celebrated. In fairness, other HEOR consulting agencies seem to suffer the same complaints. Xcenda was small, then successful, then big! Now maybe it has lost it’s soul. Perhaps that’s part of the process that all successful companies go through.

    Advice to Management

Senior management is far from perfect, but honest people. I think if they knew how to right the ship they would. To inspire employees, there needs to be something more than the micro focus on monthly revenue and write-offs and hamster wheel of projects. Don't show me another competition about cooking healthy food or pictures doing volunteer work. I actually am still intellectually engaged by the work, not... distractions to manufacture company culture.

I have been working at Xcenda full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Excellent corporate culture, commitment to work and life balance, interested and engaged managers and employees - all excellent at what they do. The company is in the business of expertise, is ethical, and it's growing. There's a lot of pressure to succeed, but that is mostly self imposed because most of your coworkers and managers are very supportive.

    Cons

It'll be hard to work anywhere else once you've had a chance here.

    Pros

Excellent compensation, flexibility, great benefits, diversity.

    Cons

Micromanaging, double speak, no support for employees, does anything to appease the client

    Advice to Management

Train your team leads to act as a cohesive unit, with the same messaging across the board. Just because a person is great in the field doesn't mean they can manage. So dissatisfied with this company.
