I have been working at Xerox full-time

    Pros

There are a lot of very smart, very passionate people employed by Xerox.

    Cons

The company is completely focused on bottom line - innovation is stifled; business deals are given more credence than grassroots initiatives.

I have been working at Xerox full-time

    Pros

Xerox has a solid name in the document industry and has a solid major account list to its portfolio in Houston and around the country. Great tools and resources to utilize manage accounts. Xerox also provides a comprehensive product line that is superior to its competitors.

    Cons

Xerox is a state of transition and going through a lot of changes. In my assignment, its very difficult to penetrate new accounts due to the high price of the product. The market is shrinking and over the past couple of years I have several accounts lost to shrinking demand. Compensation is extremely complicated and I experience quite a few demoralizing commission decrements for low margin, service cancellations, and a long list of other reasons.

    Advice to Management

I advise management to strike healthy balance of profitability to revenue and be more aggressive toward attacking new accounts. Reps should be able to get credit for service base payments which lower revenue credit and make it much harder to attain quota goals. Each territory should be analyzed to create the right quota attainment goals. Some territories lack the opportunities to come close to achieving quota while others have a healthy base of existing accounts but sales reps are judged the same.

I worked at Xerox full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Can be a great environment to work in as long as you don't let others hinder your productivity.
Consistent work and will make sure that you get your 40 hrs if your status is full time.
Decent hourly pay if you come in through a temp service.
Presented the opportunity to learn a great skill set that can help you in the future.

    Cons

Promotions are granted upon favor, not skills. If you are a part of the good clique , then you can get promoted & work decent hours.
Supervisors there are not as knowledgable as some of the employees on the services offered to the customers. Supervisors are not required to have a great knowledge base of products/ services or even employee relations.
Underpaid if not hired through a temp service & if you are not careful, they will try to cut your pay when & if you become a permanent employee.
Do not promote fairly. Some supervisors are trained by employees how to do the job & yet not able to get promoted due to their knowledge & experience.
No cafeteria in the building that you can get a hot meal, & not enough time to eat your food once you go out to get it. They don't want you eating at your desk, but provide no other place for you to eat unless it is outside or in your car.
    Can't keep a solid management team .
Allow too much unprofessional activity to go on . (Don't stick to a professional dress code , etc.)
Overall is an unprofessional place with a bad representation in the work world outside of Xerox.

    Advice to Management

Get trained how to become a supervisor / manager & then practice what you learn. Stop sitting in offices behind closed doors doing non work related activity. Be on the floor more helping your employees to be the best that they can be, unless you are insecure of your job being taken.

    Pros

Work from home opportunity were nice.

    Cons

Trainer was a bit confusing when explaining the job. Also, could not practice with the incoming call application that would be used when taking calls, until we were taking actual calls. Would have been nice to have been a little familiar with it beforehand.
