I worked at Xerox full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of what XEROX had to offer at the start (around 2011) was employee focused training and opportunities. Allowing, in the IT departments, setting your own hours and work locations.

    Cons

After the budget began to control almost 100% of the company's ideals, absurd working conditions, expectations and continued lies about compensation (4 years at the same salary?).

    Advice to Management

Remember that without your employees, you have no customers. Put their happiness, growth and potentials higher than, or equal to your customers.

    Pros

Great employees who would always go the extra mile. Really enjoyed the folks I worked with and made some lifelong contacts and friends

    Cons

Very top heavy - too many managers for a small number of direct reports. Found management too far removed from the day to day operations

    Advice to Management

Try to listen to what your employees are saying instead of ignoring them

    Pros

The employees that are still at Xerox are great at their jobs and self motivated.

    Cons

The people running the company think of the work force as nothing but an expense and nothing more.

    Advice to Management

Start treating people honestly and fairly.

    Pros

People work well together. Benefits are good, but not what they used to be.

    Cons

Upper management believes cutting costs and outsourcing/offshoring positions is the solution. Although Jeff Jacobson is the new CEO, the cost cutting/offshoring continues.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

there are not PROS to working at Xerox

    Cons

Low raises, most work is heading to the 'right shore' which is Guatemala or India. No remote work unless you part of a call center, all higher level jobs have to be in Rochester or Norwalk and they wont pay to move you so no advancement, Even if you do get an offer to for a new internal role, your manager will likely stop it as there seems to be a perpetual hiring freeze. No raise in over 6 years, finally got one that did not even meet inflation for the last year,

    Advice to Management

resign and let professionals run the company.

I worked at Xerox full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great people.
    Flexibility to work from home.

    Cons

Management by fear. Micro management the norm.
Overkill on financial analysis, not enough management by fact and/or root cause analysis.
    Non existent or outdated tools.
No workflow inside the company but yet selling the offering to other companies.
Non existent opportunities for advancement for those who are not "networked" with the so called movers and shakers.
    Outsourcing overkill
    Lack of raises for years.

    Advice to Management

Reward your best people--stop focusing on your bonus and give the best people a bonus.
Analyze your manager levels--people are in the wrong jobs.
The good ole boy network still exists.
New product roll outs are not the answer.
Customers want stellar service delivered by well qualified resources.
Outsourcing is cheap, yes, but costly in terms of quality services being provided.
    Invest in IT initiatives internally.
Internal process red tape is killing the company.

I worked at Xerox full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Culture is casual, employees are friendly, and salaried workers are generally allowed to self-govern schedules and work days to a large degree. New Leadership in 2017 may actually have the energy and vision to turn around a number of problems for the Xerox business.

    Cons

Aging workforce with an aging skillset. Lacks implementation of modern IT industry standard practices, or any IT standards whatsoever in some areas. IT design and development work is considered a commodity to be done by the cheapest bidder. Non-competitive pay and small chance of upward mobility. Tendency to pigeonhole skilled or experienced workers in the same jobs indefinitely without the opportunity to do new work. The size of the annual "merit raise" program offered is what most other companies would offer as an annual cost of living adjustment. Motto of "cut costs at all costs" in the Xerox IT business has translated to unskilled and overwhelmed IT application support teams. Little to no accountability when teams fail to perform responsibilities that others rely on. Vacated positions are rarely back-filled and the remaining team members are expected to take on the work responsibilities without any increase in pay or job title.

    Advice to Management

Compensation is non-competitive and needs to be corrected. Fix the merit raise program so that employees actually feel valued for the effort of going above and beyond. Realistically ask "Why would a person want to stay with Xerox?".
