    Pros

    Great people. Stable customer base

    Cons

Xerox bought this business (ACS) in 2009 and is now spinning it back off in January as Conduent. During the time Xerox owned this org, they starved t for resources to keep the firms technology current and spun off the Computer Services part as Atos. What is left is sorely in need of an update. The question is - will the new management be able to marshal enough resource to undo the damage from the Xerox neglect.

    Advice to Management

Get lots of money together or you risk the firm's future.

    Pros

    Nice people
    Global Organization
    Employee Discounts
    Knowledge Library

    Cons

    Non-competitive salaries
    Poor benefits
Too may different organizations for one function, ie, there are different organizations handling Accounting, Finance and Controller, asking the same questions, creating multiple layers of work.
Organizations are siloed and there is no team feeling

    Advice to Management

Reorganize the structure to be more horizontal than vertical.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Xerox as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Strictly speaking from the Business Analyst position in San Francisco with Xerox's Fastrak:
    1) The people working around and below the Business Analyst level work long hours and still reasonably positive and helpful.
    2) The work environment is positive and inviting.
    3) Some people are in fact trying to improve the system.

    Cons

As I can only speak from the Business Analyst perspective, in San Francisco, and within Xerox's Fastrak, I will keep it in that range.
    1) Management at the levels I interacted with (including office managers and the QA department in particular) have high expectations, but do not provide the resources for it. Oftentimes they will say something is ready/done/usable , ie. reports or reporting methods) and it is not the case or it has so many errors that one ends up reporting bad data.
    2) The facility, machines, and networks they use are slow and absurdly messy. Tasks that should take 30 mins, end up being all-day affairs. In order to tie up loose ends, they expect workers to stay over-time.
    3) Fastrak (this department of Xerox) has not been profitable for a couple months now. For this reason, coupled with their tendency to over exaggerate, management is willing say large numbers for compensation, which later becomes clear they have no intention to follow through on.
    4) They don't even have coffee or paper towels in the kitchen for their workers. Even a homeless shelter has coffee.

I have been working at Xerox (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great support of its people, a culture of continuous improvement and relevant innovation.

    Cons

Internal competition can be detrimental and non-synergistic.

    Advice to Management

Be aware of younger generations and how they are changing work and business.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Customers are great, job is challenging, and good vacation time.

    Cons

Management only cares about money, 7 years no pay raise, but management gets bonuses. Benefits cost more each year, everything cost more each year, but nothing to help keep the same lifestyle. They claim they have an incentive program, but it is based on calls per day and money spent on repairing machines so they encourage making machines unreliable so techs have more calls and can make their expense targets. They've put trackers in company cars (only for techs, not anyone else) and expect you to be at your first call at 8am not caring how far away they have given you a call. I've had calls 50 miles away as my first call, I'd have to leave at 5am to make it with traffic and they send you the call in the middle of the night so you do not know about it till you turn your phone on. They have promotions available but will not let you apply for them.

    Advice to Management

Quality cost money. Numbers are only indicators, they are not gospel. When you drive your targets by numbers all you get are numbers, not true performance. Techs give you the numbers by what they report, not what then do.
