I worked at Xerox full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people. Decent starting salary. Interesting projects to work on and good opportunities for professional growth. Technical expertise is strong with many employees.

    Cons

Corporate structure led to challenges at the local level. Upper management was not transparent. Several layoffs in just a few years time. Few opportunities for advancement. Stagnant wages.

    Advice to Management

Be more honest with employees (targeted at upper management). Focus development efforts on projects that are likely to remain supported to finalization.

    Pros

Well known name. Great people to work with. Has potential to make great products. Is capable of doing well. Good 401k.

    Cons

Compsny is run from Webster New York who unfortunately don't understand customers requirements. Too much bureaucracy. Too many levels of management

    Advice to Management

Understand each engineer brings something different.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Under new management, hopefully he can turn things around

    Cons

Historically poorly mismanaged, low focus on employee satisfaction, limited room for advancement

    Advice to Management

Stop outsourcing jobs to overseas companies for short-term benefits. Start rewarding, respecting, and encouraging employees again.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good, ethical people who work hard.
    Excellent products and services.
National reach of products and services, and access to business services and technology that is ahead of the market.
Very good work/life balance- when you are done, you are done for the day. And there are opportunities for remote work full or part time.

    Cons

Pay is low median and it is stagnant. Do not expect to see pay raises.
The benefits are on the low end of okay; you can get better benefits at other companies.
The company is currently going through a split. I feel that Ms. Burns has done teh best job she could with an old school company, but the future seems murky right now.

    Advice to Management

Please encourage more responsiveness with internal support and internal businesses. There does seems to a bit of internal lag in responsiveness between departments. Please encourage divisions to learn about each other, and not have a "not my department' viewpoint.

    Pros

Full time work, people were great, worked on the honored system, we were rusted to work our full time hours each week.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good balance with work and home life. There was a time when working hard equaled good pay but that is long gone. The people were the best part but they are all getting VRIF and IRIF'ed away...

    Cons

Loved working here 7 years ago. Now not so much. Since the ACS acquisition Mrs Burns has had no clue how to run this company. New SLT focus each year. Territory assignment changes frequently and now huge layoffs. We keep the folks that should not be saved and dismiss the tenure folks that have work ethic and knowledge. Last month when they announced Mrs Burns will get the boot at the end of the year the stock went up 10% if that is any indication. Benefits seem to get more expensive each year.

    Advice to Management

Let the sales staff sell and quit micro managing every single dollar. You'll attract more with honey than a fly swatter.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Big company, name recognition, good co-workers who are doing their best with ever more limited resources.

    Cons

Lost its way, trying to find its direction, letting good people go leaving holes in processes. Wages out of whack with the market, makes leaving the company desirable.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the talent that is keeping the company afloat and bump wages. Stop cutting people without looking at complete processes.

    Pros

Great experience, love the people. Lots to do and learn. Always busy.

    Cons

So many cutbacks, service slipping would like to see management fix that also have more flex time.

    Pros

Xerox had great leadership when I worked there. Seems that things are getting tighter there and I heard that they are changing management right now.
Great work environment. Xerox is a class act all the way around.

    Cons

The company is too big and no one knows who is who or what is going on. Lots of people are leaving because things are changing and management is getting stale.

    Advice to Management

Get people in there that know what they are talking about. New blood is needed to keep the ideas and approach to the market fresh.
